    Pros

A great group of people and a wonderful company to work for.

    Cons

The only thing I wasn't crazy about were the 12 to 15 hour graveyard shift for the receiving clerk.

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at C&S Wholesale Grocers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay, hours, and incentives. Also, the ability to move up if you work hard. Great thing come to those who wait. And you must work hard and be more active in learning different jobs. It can be rough, but what is easy in life?

    Cons

Sore body, can stress you out more if you are a smoker and drinker. Body will be sore in the morning. And sleep patterns can be thrown off. Must really build a passion. But, it can be done.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your selectors, be understanding and they will follow you. Words of encouragement from my managers and trainers are what have made me run harder everyday at the Hammond, La location. I plan to never miss day, even though I am a college senior I will work through this whole year, because my co-workers are truly a team to me.

    Pros

    Company comes across as aggressive.

    Cons

If they acquire your company - be prepared for significant downsizing. They are that large and can readily absorb anyone who they come in contact with.

    Advice to Management

Use a newly acquired company to grow with - not make promises and then don't follow through or at least give a chance to help develop your company.

    Cons

Too many people get involved in one project, yet no one wants to make decisions. No one also wants to even help with someone else's area. They say NOT MY JOB too often

    Advice to Management

give authority to department managers to make decisions that effect the customer.

Work on bringing Rick Cohen's ideas down through the top and punish managers who create unfriendly unprofessional and unreasonable work requirements

    I worked at C&S Wholesale Grocers full-time

    Pros

Got to meet some great people and learned how the warehousing industry works. I also learned that this is not what I want to do for a work career, and that they will hire anyone willing to work hard, even felons.

    Cons

Long hours, not much incentive to work harder other than pay, they changed the system to hourly plus incentives when I was there from $.08 a box. You used to be able to make $20-$30/hr if you pushed yourself, now its more like $15-$20.

    Advice to Management

Give out more down time, don't be so hard on employees, give them more encouragement to work hard.
