Pros
The pay is relatively good; at 15 dollars an hour it is well about any minimum wage job wit the same education and skill requirements. The management generally keeps out of your way, and the work week is only 4 days. You also get in shape.
Cons
The work is fast paced and physically demanding. Every second you are on the clock, you must be performing a task that can be recorded in their computer system.
Advice to Senior Management
The warehouse environment could be more oriented towards encouraging employee efficiency and comfort, There are no windows in the facility, and no real-time performance feed back.
Pros
The environment of the company is fast-paced, full of great people with an amazing sense of community. If you love a challenge, this is the place to be.
Cons
It's a very hard place to work if you can't accept criticism or critiques of your work and if you don't thrive under pressure.
Advice to Senior Management
Management discloses all important information to everyone who needs to know. Employees are kept in-the-know and it shows by the level of employee confidence in the company.
Pros
-_- none just good pay
Cons
poor management talk down to you might as wheel get a whip n treat us as there slaves management swears at us n if we swear back our jobs on the line
Advice to Senior Management
work on communication skills take a class dont take it out on us were only humans when you hurt us your just hurting your selves need more positive alot of these mangagers never piced or didnt pick under the same system its more frustrating
Pros
The coworkers are for the most part a great group of people who are dealing with the same issue as you are.
Cons
They came into a already successful warehouse and Cut pay, Benefits, Raise performance standard and tell you be thankful you have a job.
Pros
you got guys wit not even a ged making 60k a year.
most of your managers used to be on the floor.
you really learn about time management.
you will gain endurance and lost weight/gain muscle.
Cons
they have a timing system where they time you for each drop, and the time doesn't stop until u get to the next one. its extremely unfair.you cant even use the bathroom without your percent dropping down..its a scam.
then even when u don't have drops your still being timed and your told go look for work so while your looking the clock is ticking and your percent drops if u step out of the freezer for a 15 min your percent will go down 10-15%..and you have to work extra hard for a hour to get it back up..this is not an exaggeration.
Advice to Senior Management
forklift's shouldn't be on timer its unsafe and unfair.
Pros
This company provided enough hours to get by. There was always enough work to do and I got along with some of the co-workers.
Cons
The distance to travel to work was brutal. There are times where I would drive home and nod off from the boredom.
The management provided poor communication. Management barely takes into consideration the employee's ability to do a quality job but focuses more on force-feeding you work that is almost impossible to complete by common standards.
The management has been caught a couple of times "going on a rag" about the performance of their employees but is never once seen contributing to the performance of the department.
Advice to Senior Management
The best advice would be to work on your communication. Take into consideration what the employees are capable of doing and provide open communication to encourage a high morale feel about day-to-day assignments and tasks.
Pros
Stable company that has good cash flow, only because they are so tight with their money.
Exposure to many large manufacturers and brokers in the food and grocery industry.
Cons
If you're salaried, be prepared to work tremendous hours and NOT be paid overtime or comp time.
Regular hours for buyers are 7:30am to 5:30pm, if you come in early or stay late, that's on your dime, but there's so much work that it can never be done.
If you get hired, make sure you're salary is where it needs to be. Don't expect to get good raises, average over the last 5 years was 1-1.5%, and that's if you're a good performer!
Company does not care about you, only what they can take from you. Be prepapred to have NO work life balance. If you have kids, kiss them goodbye, or the hours you spend at work would be considered neglect.
Management out of touch sometimes because they've managed for so long, they don't know how it's like on the front line.
Not much room for advancement unless you know someone or get "in" with management.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees more by showing, not saying - if you even say it at all.
The quarterly mtgs for the company state of affairs is a waste of time, a produced slide show that doesn't really get in touch with the workers in the front line.
Workers should be able to ask questions anonymously. Management shouldn't pick and choose which questions to answer.
Pros
great place to start a logistics career
very fast paced
ability to get involved in almost anything easily
hard work is rewarded and respected
Cons
small industry margins = suboptimal compensation
management changes are hindering overall culture
focus shifting from numbers based to political
Advice to Senior Management
get back to roots of success
Pros
It is a fast paced environment and it keeps you busy. There are opportunities to grow, however you need to sell your soul to get there and send your family to neverseeyaville.
Cons
Long hours, poor upper management, poor leadership, poor work-life balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Lead from the front. Consider what it's like for employees on all levels. Worry less about pinching for every dollar and more about the people you rely on to make your bloated salary.
Pros
A lot of hours, and a lot of work. Never worry about not having anything to do. Good location, very well known company.
Cons
No respect for employees personal lives; as a supervisor you have to work over 75 hours; being on conference calls (even on your days off); when job was offered it was 4 days x 10 hours; reality: 5 days 15 or 16 hours a day. When somebody makes a mistake, the philosophy is to skip all the steps of coaching and fire the employee, right away. Employees are constantly threatened with losing their jobs, using the argument that the economy is bad, there is no jobs. Managers mistreat their employees; gives one the feeling that they are working in a sweat shop. Over worked and under paid employees.
Advice to Senior Management
One advice would be to hire people with actual college/university education, not just some John Doe off the street with no work ethics.
