Pros
A lot of good people work there.
Nice work environment - facilities are pleasant and the gym is very nice.
Cons
The company Is struggling, so are the employees and shareholders. Recent attempts to ignite growth have grown expenses faster than revenue so constant layoffs are the norm. The senior executive team is fragmented so decisions are generally based on internal politics rather than business merit.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in product development and stop over spending on marketing and sales. Be straight forward and honest in communications to your customers investors and employees.
Pros
CA Technologie has a very good product protfolio and also it is always committed to grow in the IT market. A good benefit package.
Cons
Could invest more in trainning and innovation. The company must gorw really fast otherwise can be bought by an angressive market palyer.
Advice to Senior Management
The company has to invest in innovation and develop an really competitive service organization, today the company has a high risk degree to fail in large projects.
Pros
Lots of technologies to delve into
Cons
Management is rigid, changes every week. Bad review methods.
Advice to Senior Management
Fix your review methods.
Pros
Great work experience and opportunity for career development. Educational opportunity to expand knowledge base and prepare for challenges that lie ahead.
Cons
Large M&A activity in and out of the company can lead to shortened career for those that are interested in long term relationship with this employer.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to be more agile while maintaining the process and procedures necessary to run the business in a effective manner.
Pros
Solid company that allows it's employees the freedom they need to be productive and to grow professionally. Opportunity is there if your willing to relocation to new york.
Cons
My position had a high degree of travel associated with it and the company really doesn't provide all of the tools needed to make it easier on the employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Follow through of strategy - often the strategy was solid but the execution and communication was poor so any momentum generated was lost.
Pros
Great benefits and compensation
Nice Facility
Improvements in HR policies over the last 12 months
Nice team building
Charitable company that gives back to the community
Cons
Constant layoffs
Lack of overall security
Concerns with Executive Management
Advice to Senior Management
Don't make promises you can't keep. Listen to the employees and not the executives. Executives need to walk the walk, and talk the talk. HR did a much better job this year in addressing the recent layoffs. It really did feel like they respected the employee that was being let go. It is about time, in the past it always appeared to be disorganized and HR clones standing behind the employee as if they have been convicted of a crime, not this time.
Try to not conduct layoffs if you want employees to feel secure in their jobs.
Pros
great work environment, agile development
Cons
too much noisy, very upbeat but becomes taxing after a while
Advice to Senior Management
Start hiring students directly
Pros
9-5 workplace. Has a nice gym. If you are in the right department you can just ride along and enjoy the ride.
Cons
To many to mention - one of the worst places I have ever worked. Pathetic leadership, no accountability. Shoot the messenger mentality. Say nothing and maybe survive - speak out and you are gone.
Advice to Senior Management
Most people view the C - level and SVP leveal at CA as 'Tone Deaf'. The concept of 'shoot the messenger' is alive and well and that's why your business operations are so bad.
Pros
Has some flexibility and sometimes relaxed work schedule. But crap always flows down. Executives are grab the credit for the good work and give the blame for the bad kind.
Cons
HIghly political environment. They think changing senior level management will change the culture but there is a big middle layer of directors and VPs that is retaining the sick culture of the company. Cost cutting means cut/offshore the worker(engineers). General morale is : if I work my ass off the executives reap the stock options. If I don't then I get laid off or off shored.
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
WW locations, compensation up to standards as seen from others, cash reserves of company, a lot of different job opportunities
Cons
lack of internal communications, constantly changing directions and goals both internally and externally, lack of defined career paths, lack of salary bands, performance reviews are treated as a check box, limited ability to move around to different job areas, executive mangement top heavy
Advice to Senior Management
internal communications by department needs to be reviewed and considered a good practice, implementation of career paths needs to be defined and launched along with understanding of salary ranges, managers should have management training.
