I worked at CA Technologies full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Compensation is very competitive. There are many opportunities to learn new technologies and advance through another job bracket. They are heavily invested in becoming a premier developer for Cloud Technology. Company provides excellent benefits.
Cons – Company is constantly reorganizing, and subsequently, in layoff mode. Their is not enough effort to retrain technical people for jobs in the reorganized company.
Advice to Senior Management – Company would draw much more elite talent if they would develop and communicate their mission and business goals better. Many of the post-reorganization employees still have doubts if they will have a a role in the companies new direction.

I have been working at CA Technologies full-time for less than a year
Pros – relaxed work enviornment
nice people to work with
solid benefits
Cons – not as sexy as your microsofts
working on mainframes mostly
Advice to Senior Management – I have heard mostly bad things about this company in news etc, but the company is a great place to work. spend more time supporting middle management and less time on core values.

I have been working at CA Technologies full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Good people to work with and with recent new CEO, the executive team is making good decisions to focus on delivering great products and improve customer value.
Cons – CA is a big beast with legacy culture that gets in its own way. But this is changing from the top down.
Advice to Senior Management – Remove the command and control structures that get in the way of individuals and teams truly innovating.

I have been working at CA Technologies full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The new CEO seems to be shaking things up, removing barriers to operating effectively, and getting rid of people that can't execute. A new focus on delivering value, retaining customers, and moving quickly is emerging.
Cons – There are scores of employees steeped in the old culture - who seem to make it their goal to stand in the way of moving quickly and executing. It's unknown who will win this culture battle.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue focusing on execution and delivery.

I have been working at CA Technologies full-time for more than a year
Pros – Competitive products. Excellent compensation. Frequent accelerators. Great club trips. Liberal with expenses. If you are fortunate to receive a legacy CA mainframe account or a major/global account, you will be very happy.
Cons – Very political management. Sink or swim mentality. No hesitation with layoffs if the numbers are down. Confusing, matrixed sales org structure. If you aren't one of the "haves" in terms of account ownership, it's a rat race.
Advice to Senior Management – Trim the fat. There are too many layers of middle management. Modernize your legacy technologies and add more cross technology integration.

I worked at CA Technologies full-time for more than a year
Pros – The products I worked with were the best (I believe) in the market... Although the disconnect with the market by decision makers led to the pricing to be waaaaay off (sometimes 4x the competition).
Salary was good
People I worked with were extremely talented, most of which have left.
Cons – Granted, writing this after the latest downsize... But you can learn a lot about a company when times are tough.
CA loves to say how important it's employees are, but when it comes down to it, you are just a small fish in a big pond, and that pond may have some run off from mother local nuclear plant. After building a strong territory which had previously been neglected, I was riffed and my colleague has taken over right when the deals are set to close. I understand that is how business goes, but if my colleagues, managers, and annual reviews really mean what they say, then I was an asset to CA. That being said, even though people knew something was going down (with rumors spreading throughout the offices), they dragged on the announcement while dangling new positions in front of people for months (which never were there). Now there is rumors that another riff is coming up in a month... I hope they do it better this time around.
What is more surprising is the amount of people leaving voluntarily after they made it through the riff. The customers can see this and are right to be frustrated as well. One customer told me he would bother learning my name because it would be someone else in a few months (unfortunately he was right).
Advice to Senior Management – You have cleaned out 1200 employees, yet from what I have seen, they were all significant performers, some with over 14 years of experience. Make sure the changes you are making are focused on delivering a better product to your customers, and not just to boost the views of your investors. Treat your employees the way you say you do, if there are cuts on the horizon - give them the time to start searching, instead of stringing them along...
