    Pros

Their retention bonuses and severance packages were good.

    Cons

Morale is hard to keep up at this company. All they do is buy up companies, sell the acquired products without investing any more money for R&D and eventually discard the companies and employees once another hot company makes it to their radar.
The company has ritualized layoffs every six months.
I will never work for this company again, and if I hear they are acquiring the company I'm working for, I'll get a new job ASAP.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the companies you acquire.

    Pros

Many talented people to work with and learn from
Opportunities to make a difference if you put in the effort
The new exec management team is a lot more relatable and approachable than the previous execs that communicated standardized text

    Cons

Pay at high expense locations are not at the market level
Local corporate events are very boring, that doesn't help build cross functional relationships among employees

    Advice to Management

Invest in the Technical Support department, it is one of the core teams that stand behind your products to help the company build and maintain customer's trust after the payments are processed

    Pros

There is few good things with the company.

    Cons

Employee morale is very low, but senior management doesn't care. Employees don’t feel free to speak their mind because of fear of negative consequences.

    Pros

-Salary is average to above average. Sales and Presales are paid very well.
-Work/life balance is definitely engrained in the culture here
-Onsite daycare and gym are top notch
-There is a great "campus" feel when it is nice out

    Cons

-Much like the NY Jets, CA is constantly looking back at the good times. Also like the Jets, the strategy is thrown out the window about once a year along with a large part of the workforce.
-CA is more of a software reseller than a software developer. They buy companies and products, devs rebrand them and they are sold as a CA product.
-There seems to be a big push to transition operations to southern California and NYC. All other offices are experiencing constant cutbacks.

    Advice to Management

As others have said, just pick a strategy and stick with it. Stop talking out of both sides of your mouths. Employees constantly hear about retaining talent, but every three months top talent is laid off. Seeing members of Executive management at company functions would be nice (having them suffer through the Islandia holiday party with the rest of us would have been poetic justice). Be more transparent, especially with products. CA employees have no idea about upcoming products or anything new to be excited about.

    Pros

    - Mostly competent employees
    - Some very high-potential products and visionary leaders
    - Some compelling benefits (flextime/work from home, charitable gift matching)

    Cons

    - Some executives are horrible, uncollaborative, tyrannical leaders
    - Power distribution--and competition--across 10 business units makes it difficult to execute against an overarching corporate strategy (there are tiny signs this is improving)
    - Culture of non-accountability, non-transparency, and buck passing
    - No set number of vacation days sounds good at first but ends up meaning you will never take a vacation...

    Advice to Management

    - implement 360 reviews
    - implement governance mechanisms on the business side to hold people accountable
    - make people and leadership skills part of performance evaluation criteria for all managers/execs

    Pros

When the team is run by new blood, CA can be great

    Cons

When the team is run by old school CA managers, you're almost guaranteed a difficult time

    Advice to Management

Stop egotistical & narcissistic middle managers from hemorrhaging talent

    Pros

Fun while it lasted... a sales oriented driving culture.

    Cons

Feb 2, 2015: un-announced to the street layoffs and reduction in force. This happened all over the world with merging of job functions to "eliminate" jobs and layoffs of the under performing and less important product focus areas. This reduction may have been in the thousands but was absolutely in the several hundreds of employees.

    Advice to Management

Payback is not a good thing, and that is what you create.

Good company to work for, specially great team work, everyone seems to willing to help when you are reaching out.

    Cons

work and life balance depends on which department or job.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, and I think company is on the right track.
