I have been working at CAE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great starting position with lots of traveling for new graduates. Many opportunities to learn about different types of aircraft chance to work with some great airlines.

    Cons

CAE has been cutting everything in the past few years. There is very little employee motivation because incentives to travel and work hard have all been cut and the employee is receiving nothing in return for working smart and working hard

    Advice to Management

Implement incentives in order to keep those valuable employees from moving to other companies. All the skilled talent is leaving the company and going elsewhere.

    Pros

The company provided a variety of projects and good opportunity for internal mobility across teams and departments. Paid overtime (at the time) and excellent benefits. Great colleagues.

    Cons

High pressure to meet short deadlines. Many overtime hours to complete projects. Witnessed a few cycles of layoffs and followed by rehiring.

Good people for the most part and interesting work with potential for international travel.

    Cons

Layoffs when they are doing well. Company did very poorly on employment engagement surveys compared to similar companies.

    Advice to Management

Quit fixing wheels that aren't broken.

I worked at CAE as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Great environment and great colleagues. The company has a Tim Hortons and a great cafeteria. Interesting projects to work on.

    Cons

The location is not great. It is really hard to get there by bus if you live outside of St-Laurent.

I worked at CAE full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

CAE is a great place for a young engineer to start their career. Dynamic work environment, interesting end-product, smart engineers. Opportunities to learn. Opportunities for international travel. Good benefits, salary is fair. Flexible work schedule. Overtime and irregular hours are paid extra.

    Cons

Constant paradigm shifting in management. Re-structuring attempts in engineering in the last 7 years have not led to any notable improvement. Employee morale is low because of it. Time sheets for salaried employees are annoying. Limited hours available for projects encourage "quick fix" solutions instead of long-term sustainability. Lots of opportunities to make lateral careers moves, but limited opportunities to move upward. Very little transparency to employees when it comes to management plans, costs, etc.

    Advice to Management

Changing too often and not following up is a recipe for frustration and employee disengagement. Listen to employees, and let them be involved in the decision-making process. Be transparent about costs and management's intentions with the company so that employees understand why decisions are being made.
