I have been working at CAL POLY as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Independent hours so very flexible work environment. Additionally, work is typically easy for all majors since professors usually give guidelines in how to grade. Pay is reasonable and above minimum wage for what needs to be done.

    Cons

Pay is inconsistent since you may have different grading loads every week.

I have been working at CAL POLY part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The hours are fit around your classes which is nice. Everyone understands that you are there for an education and a job is secondary to that. Most of the people are fairly laid back which is always a plus.

    Cons

Pay raises are almost nonexistent and when you do finally get one, they raise you less than a dollar an hour most of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide better ways to move up as well as provide better incentive to the working environment.

    Pros

Cal poly is one of the best places to learn. As an assistant you work under professors and learn a lot.

    Cons

The only real complaint I had was that I had to be in San Luis obispo, which doesn't really seem like a negative to most people. Overall it was great.

I have been working at CAL POLY

    Pros

Clocking in between classes is great--I don't have to leave the campus.
Faculty and staff understand midterm/final season and adjust work hours accordingly.

    Cons

There aren't many career opportunities in my field and the pay is average--which are both understandable.
