    Pros

The students are fabulous, the hours are varied, the assignments are very creative and challenging, and my classes are onsite and online.

    Cons

Bureaucracy causes far too many delays and interruptions to the day to day business of learning.

    Advice to Management

Move away from the corporate model and back to a more traditional academic model of governance.

    Pros

There are no office politics, bias or favorites. Your performance review is based on the quality of your work not who you know. Hours are flexible but your deliverables must be thorough, detailed and accurate.

    Cons

Pay is low. Parking is a nightmare. IT department is very busy so it may take a couple of week to set up office.

    Advice to Management

Pay talent more so you can retain them.

    Pros

Friendly staff, diverse environment, fair wages, a place to grow your skills. Laid back environment. Free fitness opportunities. Travel. Equipment provided for work.

    Cons

Management rife with cronies and the hiring of friends. Old staffers won't retire though they are awful at their jobs. Entrenchment a problem. Union mismanaged and basically worthless. New president is starting to make serious changes!

    Advice to Management

Keep firing staff who aren't doing the job, including union represented workers. Provide career growth and give educational opportunities to those seeking growth. Provide advanced training.

    Pros

Strong faculty union. Good funding opportunities. The students are amazing.

    Pros

It's very relaxing job, and it has room for potential growth. I know several student lab consultants who became assistant supervisors, then started working full-time at the department after they graduated.

    Cons

There's too many new people that constantly get hired. Scheduling is also strict, and there's not a lot of ways to change your schedule for the quarter once it's set. Lately, there has also been a lot of push towards better customer service, and management is getting a bit too strict

    Advice to Management

Be a little more flexible in scheduling. The lab consultants are students with full-time study schedules. They should allow students to take time off for studying, allow homework to be done on the job.

    Pros

Great benefits, working for a large campus gave me wonderful experience working for a large college. The faculty and students that I worked with were always a joy. I wouldn't of quit but I had to relocate :( There are always opportunities for growth on campus and the connections you make with others in your specific college is awesome.

    Cons

Employees have to pay for their parking permits, the campus seems to be disconnected by departments.
