Pros
very loyal employees and customers. Company is headed in the right direction.Company provides managers and sales to buy stock in the company.Comompany is very aggressive in the market.
Cons
very tough industry and job pressure.company is at times slow to change. Advancement in the company may require relocating to another state.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep listening to your employees and customers
Pros
Very flexible in taking time off for appointments and personal errands that do not neccessitate taking a whole or half day off work.
Cons
There is a huge age gap in the employees at Carquest. The opportunities to work on projects, share ideas, and contribute in that fashion are few and far between.
Advice to Senior Management
Match skills to positions versus filling positions with bodies. Be open to making changes because policies and software that has worked for the past 20 years does not mean that it is the best for the company now or in the future.
Pros
with my job, flexibility with schedule
Cons
used to be a company that cared about teammates and I no longer see that
Advice to Senior Management
Please get into the leadership role and into the field and stop meeting so much
Pros
Okay pay in some jobs, lacking in others. Good people outside of executive management
Cons
Executives only interested in bottom line money. Benefits have been cut and staffing cuts have led to understaffed teams. CEO, CFO, and HR Leaders have alienated a lot of good employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on treating your people right and the bottom line will follow with results. Stop changing lanes every week on initiatives.
Pros
As a salary person, I was able to keep personel appointments and worked with a good group of people who were helpful.
Cons
A lack of accountabilty in upper management. A good ole boys type of environment where it appears a shell game with liabities happens. I wonder if T3 (CEO) really has clue where the problems are because it doesn't appear he's getting a straight story from the people that answer to him. I've seen millions of dollars let go at the end of the year on inventories because departments and people did not organize and get thier work done. This is product returns to suppliers. I don't think his management has informed him of that the last couple years.
Advice to Senior Management
Hold people accountable through checks and balances. There is not alot of followup on what should get done and what doesn't get done. I saw this amount to millions in excess inventories and lost credits for returns.
Pros
Management is very poor (IT department) in this company. You don't need to worry about dealines, they have no idea when you should complete a task. Technologies are really old, you don't need to worry about your skills up to date if you plan to work there forever.
Cons
You will not be respected for your work.
Poor benefits.
Totally no training.
98% politics + 2% technical.
The whole company is start learning SDLC, and after 6 month, there are no progress because no "volunteer" want to contribute the process. LOL
Advice to Senior Management
Fire everyone above manager in IT department. Send all employees in IT department to school to learn SDLC. Send all developers, managers to school to learn how important is testing.
Pros
Wonderful teammates
Great Location
Still has potential to be great
Cons
Below market pay
Below market benefits
Lack of real leadership and vision at the top levels
Inconsistent values, the leadership says one thing and then do the opposite
Misleading hiring practices
Advice to Senior Management
You need to align your actions and words, say what you mean and mean what you say! Your employees see through your double standards and your hollow words! You do not have the respect or confidence of your employees.
Pros
opportunities to advance are there , plenty of places to work throughout the US, good health benefits and profit sharing
Cons
can't advance very fast, very much into their corporate rules, job advancement very much depends on your overhead management, long hours for warehouse workers, low pay compared to other similar jobs in the area, takes a long time to accrue vacation or off time (years)
Advice to Senior Management
take better care of lower level management, they are the backbone to the company and many times they are overlooked when deciding benefits and bonuses and raises for those supervisors in the corporate side. 3 day off limit for major holidays is insane, no one wants to works christmas eve or the friday after thanksgiving.
Pros
Buying auto parts at cost.
Cons
Very political and silo company. Doesn't matter how good you are but how well you are connected and whether management likes you. Lots of rah-rah intiatives, but only done to make upper management happy and not employees. As a job, it's fine, but if you are a professional, it is not a place you'd want to stay long term. They try to hook you with 'bonuses' which are a joke as they are not always paid or stock purchase program, but the accounting is fuzzy with the program.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop with the rah-rah programs and flavor of the month projects. If you identify important projects, stand behind them and support them. Saying we're 'warm, happy, knowledgeable and caring' does not make us 'warm, happy, knowledgeable and caring'. How about providing us competitive salaries, treat us fairly (equitable reviews) and give us training?
