Pros
Flexible schedule
Working with the best
Great hours of operation
Great HR support
Great training in store.
Cons
Not enough people in the stores, or drivers, to accomplish our goal of being in the lead of this industry. By starving our stores of good people and drivers, cutting payroll ,we have asked our competition(s), to help us with walk in needs/sales, and asked their help to take care of all our delivery charge accounts needs, and are rewarding them with our lost sales, and, have asked them to help take up the slack of delivery so we do not have to, which shows we are on a flatline. They have now jumped at the chance to grab all those lost sales, which would have paid for our employees to be there to provide the best service in the first place.
Advice to Senior Management
Go back to knowing we are untouchable, we are the big guns, and quit going candy.
Clean nice stores planogramed has always been in our favor, great, we are almost there, we needed that, now get back to business and do what we do best. Yes we have some little good things, link, wpc, etc... going on with dis, dat, and de uter ting. We have lost our sight on being the best. Through the eyes of store level is where we can bring back the win in our future to become the company that holds the right to be the best, and not let the competition chomp away at us for too much longer.

Pros
flexable part time
professional appearences
Cons
Company has lost it's way in the auto parts business
Reduced staffing causing delays in customer service
Lost sales continuously going to competitors
Stores over stocked with dead items and in need of updated "local" inventories
pricing too high in the wholesale market
Advice to Senior Management
go back to basics and listen to what your "team mates" have to say.
Pros
Leadership under Temple Sloan Junior
Cons
Leadership changed over the last years. There is a total lack of vision and direction.
Advice to Senior Management
The competition has it figured out.
Pros
The only thing I really liked about working at Carquest was the store hours. Most of the stores had daytime hours compared to most auto companies.
Cons
Management is very poor. They expect you to act professional while they do things I will not say that will get you fired at most companies. But, as long as they are making the company money, the corporate office will look the other way. Sometimes the mangers were the reason for the drama at the store level.
Advice to Senior Management
Take more management courses. And, learn how to talk to your fellow employees. Most of the time regional managers were the worst.
Pros
Very flexible in taking time off for appointments and personal errands that do not neccessitate taking a whole or half day off work.
Cons
There is a huge age gap in the employees at Carquest. The opportunities to work on projects, share ideas, and contribute in that fashion are few and far between.
Advice to Senior Management
Match skills to positions versus filling positions with bodies. Be open to making changes because policies and software that has worked for the past 20 years does not mean that it is the best for the company now or in the future.

Advice to Senior Management
In order to keep employees happy, time off must be given when asked for. As a summer employee with this company I needed some time off and struggled to get that.
