I have been working at CARQUEST full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great discounts and good if you are one who enjoys interaction with DIYers and Professionals

    Cons

Lots of hours 50-60 every week, 6 days of a month, get to work most holidays, low inventorys, and understaffing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your RDOs are using their people up only to pad their own bonus and they do not listen to their managers because they are ingrained in old school management techniques.

I have been working at CARQUEST part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great quality in the products, customers, and the employees with opportunities open to you for advancement if you just take the time. They are very flexible with you if you put forth good work everyday.

    Cons

Stores tend to get very dirty if they are not kept clean and the really busy days seem to put some people on edge. The pay could also be better.

I worked at CARQUEST full-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you're at an actual CARQUEST location the business hours are good and you get a company vehicle with limited use .The Advance locations are a different story on the hours and no vehicle.

    Cons

    antiquated and redundant computer processes
    HORRIBLE upper management
    unbelievable amount of paperwork
benefits are terrible ( high cost with little coverage and only 1 week vacation for the first few years of employment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advance Auto Parts has their work cut out for them after this acquisition. CARQUEST has many long term upper management members who believe their company rules the auto parts world. I think they forgot they were going bankrupt because of the way they do business. Leaders are dishonest and no one at the corporate office will take responsibility for anything.

I worked at CARQUEST full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Competitive pay, decent location close to restaurants and other locations to get things done on breaks. My boss was supportive.

    Cons

Not an environment of cooperation, making it difficult to get your job done. Many systems seem cobbled together as individuals have come up with their own solutions to problems. Disparate systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I witnessed a meeting with many senior level management in it, and none of them were willing to make a decision. That kind of culture won't help you get things done.

I worked at CARQUEST part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get a lot of client interaction, which is beneficial. Also, the relationship between co-workers was always great. There is opportunity to grow in the company and gain leadership positions.

    Cons

Recently hours were cut back because there was not enough revenue. The hours seemed to be everyday for a short period of time which made it very hard to find another job to subsidize the income.

I worked at CARQUEST for more than 8 years

    Pros

They paid you, not enough, but they did pay us to work

    Cons

The weakest team of leaders I have ever seen....From the CEO down through the VP Leaders. Focused on lining their pockets at the expense of everyone else. The SVP team and above is loaded with Greedy weak no ethics leaders that could care less about the long term standing of the company and the team. They got their payout and impacted the lives of a lot of associates along the way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If I were Advance I would come in and replace the entire staff from VP and above and start over. This team was involved in all of the mess over the last few years and no one in the company has confidence in any of them. If you clean house you can start anew and try to regain their confidence.
