This is a great company to work for, they care about their employees.

    Cons

Work can be fast paced a lot of the time and sometimes it can be stressful.

    Advice to Management

Keep growing in whom you hire. Hire those who have the desire and passion for the automotive industry.

    Pros

    Discount buying auto parts.
    Good people to work with.
Good location, away from other major office spaces.

    Cons

Ageing technology. Silos in IT groups. Raleigh IT is being moved to Roanoke, loosing significant experience on many legacy systems. The IT budget initiative of 1% of gross sales lost a few good people and caused moral to drop. This was just before the company was sold.

    Advice to Management

Encourage collaboration and transparency. Allow mistakes to be made so people and learn and grow from them.

    Pros

The Company is going through a lot of change. Lots of quality parts and a strong rep over all.

    Cons

Poor inventory mix. Too many hours. Salary does not match experience, skill level or demands. I worked an average of 55-60 hours a week. Could not terminate under performers. Could not attract strong talent due to wages.

    Advice to Management

Pay those with the talent what they are worth and listen to those with the education and knowledge of their markets. Do not let Raleigh or Charlotte use algorithms to determine the mix. DM's humble yourselves you do not know it all.

    Pros

I worked here for two years as a driver and sales associate. The company does provide a good working environment as well as an IRA matching program even for part-time workers.

    Cons

There is not a lot of opportunity for part-time workers to move up and the company limits the amount of hours for their non-salaried work. There are no company options for health insurance for part time employees as well.

    Pros

The pay before Advance Auto Parts bought them.

    Cons

Sexual harassment is met with transfers, not termination even for multiple offences.
Upper management is clueless about how the stores run and make decisions based on keeping themselves out of trouble.
The company was bought by a worse company.

    Advice to Management

Act like you care about your employees. No one wants to feel like a number. Advance/Carquest makes employees feel like the maggots in the dog crap. At this point, feeling like just a number would be an upgrade. Just when you think there wasn't a company worst than Walmart, in comes Advance Auto Parts.

    Pros

A lot of things were lax as your were also told when you signed on that you were to be viewed as part owner of the company.

    Cons

As a part owner of the company I should not have feared termination or been persuaded to put in my two week notice because I could not afford to work there anymore. Irresponsible management tactics sealed the deal as a store transfer failed due to no guidelines and the latter store's incompetence.

    Advice to Management

Store transfers need guidelines and staff should be there to help when the time may arise.
