    Pros

Hours, time off allowed, bonus structure

    Cons

Getting too big now that Advance purchased

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay "small" and continue to allow your store managers to manage the stores. No micro-managing.

    Pros

Great people with the right goals. The Advance purchase should just make this company better.

    Cons

Making great strides in spite of not having the needed tools. Hopefully Advance Auto Parts will give this company the boost it has been needing.

    Pros

Store level can take charge and provide to the customers with our newfound merger with Advance Auto Parts. WE are a leader now and must go forward with customer satisfaction.

    Cons

Employees having drama and interrupting daily needs to our customers. We all have particular needs, however some employees do not have a life structure that will allow them to maintain personal needs so they can be 100% at pursuing our goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can go for it if you work here, do not stop our momentum at store level. Training must be ramped up to provide key drivers to move up to the counter and into management.

I have been working at CARQUEST part-time for more than a year

    Pros

It pays ok. Work 5 days a week. Weekends off. .

    Cons

New image of Advance/CARQUEST is to be the best. How can that be when management talks out of both sides of their mouths. They talk policy but don't keep policy. Their is no follow up or follow through on anything. We are as only as good as we are trained. No training here. Loss of time doing things more than once, therefore loss of money. Should do it right the first time. So then, how can we be the best?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advance Auto Parts really need to check on the warehouse management personal in Bakersfield CA more closely. Hopefully they would want better people working for them.

I worked at CARQUEST part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The employee discount was a mildly helpful perk, but prices were only marginally below prices at Rock Auto. Hours were available to those who worked hard (yours truly included).

    Cons

All of the stores are built around a cadre of 2-3 permanent employees, with everyone else being treated as highly expendable. Wages were low, even for senior, non-manager members of the team. The Manager and Assistant manager were the only ones permitted to accrue overtime, working 60-65 hours a week. I was a 'part time' employee working 40 hours a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Salary is not a zero-sum game. in B2B relationships, the helpfulness of the manager only goes so far; the countermen and drivers are the ones in contact with the customers the most, and their motivation and enthusiasm are in part based on how they are paid. I worked hard because I transitioned from a small business, the owner of which ripped off everyone withing rip-off distance, myself included, so I knew how bad things could be. That said, it's pretty easy to get a minimum-wage job where you're treated like garbage: why should you put the extra effort in to keep it? Carquest treats its employees like a consumable resource, I have no loyalty to them, even having worked there.

Lots of overtime, ability to work with customers directly.

    Cons

    No ability to move upwards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Fair pay for the work you do. Laid back atmosphere. Great Company cars/trucks you get to use. Good for people looking for part time work.

    Cons

No real long term future in this company. Pay raises are hard to come by because, after all, all you do is stock shelves, pull parts, and deliver them to the clients. Hard to get 40/hrs a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In terms of recruiting for drivers-something that seems very hard to do for many reasons-I would ask management to be more proactive in finding quality drivers. They should look for food delivery drivers who all ready have good driving records to work part time; as opposed to bringing in drivers who need $$$, but get lean hours all the time.
