Pros
A lot of in-house training; not all of it relevant.
Respectful, professional environment.
Prestigious employer with well-recognized reputation.
A market leader in DC.
Cons
The bureaucracy and red tape make it difficult to deliver service to tenants and clients.
The size of the DC office is such that one must constantly network in order to stay noticed and compete for assignments and promotions. It's easy to get lost in the pack.
Advice to Senior Management
Perform better information sharing. Middle managers hold even the most minor information close to the vest as though the team is on a "need to know" or not qualified to understand.
Pros
Great people, great pay, great benefits etc.
Cons
Sometimes it takes too long to get easy things done because of all the paperwork etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Make things easier on the guys working for you
Pros
Time off and recognition for effort is awarded when earned. It's is a comfortable and professional place to work.
Cons
The location and the time it takes to advance and/or promote in your career path.
Advice to Senior Management
Some of the required training is not job specific and is to brood. Some of the training is time consuming and takes away from the time we have to devote to the client.
Pros
People here are collaborative, pay is competitive and most colleagues are just outstanding..
Cons
In a downside, the pressure on reducing costs.
Advice to Senior Management
Get more creative about managing the company!
Pros
Training and educaiton were excellent. I was sent to a one week orientation program called "CB101" within 6 months of starting at the company. It was a great way to build relationships and get acclimated to such a large brokerage firm. It was also a great way to see what the brokerage world was like outside of my microcosmic Chicago market.
Cons
It's huge and you have to seek out mentors. While I was working in a team based leasing environment, I struggeled to find may individuals who would "take me under their wing" and be invested in my career growth. While this was my first job out of college and didn't have much comparison, a lot of people found the work environment to be sexist; while I don't feel strongly about this, it is rather male-dominated and can be, at times, a bit of a "good ole boys" club.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to change the complexion of the real estate brokerage industry's reputation as a male-dominated club, it would be instrumental to increase and improve mentorship for female, junior employees. The Women's Network was insufficient and, even being in the downtown Chicago office where the Network began, I was unable to even receive any acknowledgement or even a hello from the Women's Network founder-that definitely is not a healthy "face" of a Network that aims at and claims to support and foster female career development, is it?
Pros
The friendly Environment help improve productivity.
Cons
Within one year of my working with the company,
Advice to Senior Management
Developing Process to maturity

Quality assignments with good companies.
Cons
Excessive work load, compensation is inadequate.
Advice to Senior Management
Become more employee centric
Pros
Great opportunity to learn about commercial real estate business.
Cons
Poeple were promoted based on who they knew, not by experience or education.
Pros
Recognition of the CBRE brand on your resume, many opportunities for advancement, good corporate policies and philanthropic efforts, good business model (consistency throughout the organization)
Cons
Low salary in comparison to the overall market, lots of politics and nepotism, under-performers are not disciplined and stay at the firm for years
Pros
Good culture, good pay, rewards merit,
Cons
its a transient industry so team changes often
