    Pros

Being part of a organization that is the first to build a nuclear facility in 30 years. Very interesting project with a lot of moving parts and able to learn quite a bit about a extremely political industry. Nuclear pay is probably the most , underneath the bankers of course.

    Cons

There are so many rules and regulations that you have no room for creativity nor do you do any work. The work "Engineers" were doing was paper pushing and very very little engineering. The company is so large that you are merely a bug on the wall and can get by with very little if you like that. Not an industry for young leaders to progress . Full of the "good ole boy's" who all have man crushes on each other. QA is so stringent, if you fart in the wrong direction, there is a probability a stop work order will be issued because of it.

    Advice to Management

Realize that you are in the 21st century and embrace the change.

    I worked at CB&I

    Pros

CB&I has been around for many years and is active in construction and maintenance of heavy industry. I first worked for them in about 20 years ago as a field hand and recently in lower level management. Overall they make you feel good and part of a team. They are always hiring.

    Cons

Unfortunately CB&I will likely forever have a "build em square and beat em round mentality". With bonuses and incentives for upper level management, production and cost does override safety. They are always hiring and seem to have a high turnover. Bottom line is if you aren't in the club you are a tool.

    Advice to Management

This is a great company to work for if you get in the clique and yes, I would work for them again. The pay is average but they will make up the difference with more hours. They are always hiring and seem to have a high turnover. It's like anywhere else, cover your butt and be prepared to throw someone under the bus before they do you.. Sad but true

    Pros

There are lots of projects in the Houston office. Most are long term projects with long calendars and require large project teams.

    Cons

Just a good place to be until the industry opens up again. Quality and Teamwork, are more like posters to dress up the walls in conference rooms. The halls are full of politics and "good old boy" activities.

    Advice to Management

Find out what real people out on the "floor" think. Just sitting around in meetings, listening to each other saying all the right things will not help move the company forward. Overall a little old school.

    Pros

Pay is pretty much what you would expect. From my experience it seems you should expect to stay as the same title that you hired in as for a while.

    Cons

Advancement is possible, yet it does take a while to take place even when you're promised a higher position. Move around a lot
