    Pros

9/80 work schedule, which is a holdover from the Shaw Group.

    Cons

Bottom up accountability culture. The lower on the ladder you are, the more your feet are held to the fire when there's a problem. And this company has a lot of problems. Senior management touts the same tired positive CorporateSpeak, but when their ideas and plans fail, people lose their jobs WITHOUT SEVERANCE. Did I mention this company, a so-called global corporation with supposedly 50K employees, does not pay severance? Well, it's in the official company manual and they mean it. Speaking of manuals, HR doesn't exist here. Try calling them and you get routed to several clerks who will "pass on your question." Abysmal HR servicing. Oh, and the domestic partner benefits offered by the Shaw Group? Gone. Not that Shaw was great, but CB&I is like an old-boy, country club, cigar-smoking outfit. There's more, but you get the picture: Stay away.

    Advice to Management

Stop giving yourselves raises while the rest of us wallow in stagnate wages or, better yet, move on to another host. Your ideas have failed, so why do you still have multi-million dollar salaries?

    Pros

Long term projects. Hardcore engineer experience.

    Cons

Recent merger with Shaw Group has lead to a corporation with minimal knowledge of what many branches of the company actually do. Strict rules for advancement given as "guidance" to managers, but never put into writing.

    Advice to Management

Allow managers to control merit process. The existing merit system ties managers hands when the good/experienced employees are offered higher paying positions.

    Pros

Thier safety, training and resources benefits and experience reputation

    Cons

The purchase of Shaw has not been a smooth transition and the 2 divisions do not work well together even 2 years + later

    Advice to Management

Stop sub'ing out jobs and stop treating craft labor like a disposable asset and try promoting from with in instead of hiring unproven under qualified supervisors over and over

    Pros

None - No upside at all working for this company.

    Cons

After 14 years and literally making millions for the former company Shaw....No job with CB&I! The dishonesty and scheming with this company is beyond comprehension. We are all aware of the whims of the economy and understand that no one is guaranteed a job. But if you are not willing to steal the gold out of your grandmother’s teeth and kick her in the head when you are done, there is no place for you at CB&I.

    Advice to Management

We all know that management is not entirely responsible for what happens within a company. We all hear about a company’s core values and ethics. At CB&I values and ethics are just some words that appear on paper that are rapidly discarded when it becomes convenient. Management could actually try operate with some level of ethical behavior and think about how layoffs in times of 50% growth show just how unethical the management can be.
