I have been working at CBRE full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I like the fact that at anytime you have plenty of training tools available for you to stay abreast with the most current software that is out there. In my current position I have been given the tools to execute the duties of my job with the hounding of a manager or supervisor. My current manager is open-minded, understanding and very professional. She definitely takes care of the people on her team.

    Cons

The process for a transfer takes longer than you would expect. I expect 2-3 weeks but it's been longer than that, but I guess for good reason.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always be willing to hear what every employee has to say in good or bad situations, that way you are able to weigh out was real and what's fabricated.

    Pros

Company is well known, easy to move up, free breakfast every other Friday, and good IT assistance.

    Cons

Social environment is almost none existant. People act as robots and don't even greet each other or be in lunch rooms with an akward silence.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to make a more social atmosphere to build morale.

    Pros

All the projects that CBRE gets are first rated, the compensation they provided is great.

    Cons

The time off policies are sometimes hard if you work with a client and there is NO one to take your place while you are on vacations.

Current Employee - Senior Real Estate Manager in Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at CBRE as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people with a lot of property management experience, great clients and great properties. You get to work with top notch asset managers at all major institutional investors.

    Cons

Portfolio people are stretched thin. There is a big difference in responsibility for portfolio people versus single asset teams. Plus pay for non-reimbursed people is usually lower than for reimbursed people (at all levels).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior leadership (especially outside LA) should visit the properties more often and listen o rank and file what the issues are. Most senior leaders have never managed a property in their life (they are mostly ex-brokers). They need to understand where and how the money is made.
