I have been working at CBRE (More than 8 years)

    Pros

CBRE his a growing company. Many Job opportunities. It has a presence in most major markets and Its a great company to hire/promote into your next role.

    Cons

The company does not invest money into employee development. There is no education reimbursement benefit and most people leave to get promoted

    Advice to Management

Develop your employees and attempt to promote from within before you hire externally.

I have been working at CBRE full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of young, driven coworkers. Easy to make friends throughout the company. Beautiful office and good technology resources. Open work environment helps break the monotony.

    Cons

Poor compensation, compared to other firms. Expectation to work nights, weekends but will refuse to pay overtime for some positions (Valuation Associate). Lack of freedom, discouraged from taking vacation time.

    Advice to Management

Compare your job offerings to others available in the market and realize that people are going to continue to move elsewhere unless you can compete

    I worked at CBRE full-time

    Pros

Stable company, widespread so it is often easy to transfer if need be, lots of different kinds of jobs

    Cons

Low pay, high cost benefits, low PTO, more concerned with SAYING the right thing than DOING the right thing

    Advice to Management

Be honest with your employees, give them information they can work with. Find better benefits packages.

I have been working at CBRE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Always new business to keep you busy

    Cons

Very political; growth can be stopped by your supervisor if they just don't like you. Your positive work or clients don't speak for you if your manager choozes to ignore it. Benefits are horrible!

    Advice to Management

    Promote more from within.

I have been working at CBRE (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Large company great projects. Great work experience. Opportunity to work on national projects and travel. Senior management does not typically have any idea what you are doing. Wonderful clients. Great team mates.

    Cons

Lots of bureaucracy, challenging environment when you are an efficient PM. Too many people that have no idea what they are doing. Mediocrity rules and is rewarded. Can't be too good or too bad.

    Advice to Management

Need less meetings and conference calls. Need better hiring practices and need to spend more resources in keeping good people and rewarding them for exceptional work.

    Pros

Large company, large pool of resources, good technical resources, good name recognition in industry, biggest of the big firms in the field.

    Cons

Too silo-driven, not enough cross account work or exposure, very little promotional opportunities, insular, feels like you are on an island

    Advice to Management

More exposure to other accounts, more technical training on wider variety of topics, more Management involvement in career-development, show your face more to the troops

I have been working at CBRE full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people. Good work/life balance culture.

    Cons

Not much room for growth if you are staff. Merit increases are not enough to cover cost of living increases - pay could be better.

    I worked at CBRE full-time

    Pros

Huge well known company, looks great on resume. Lots of job opportunities. You will work very independently when working on client site with very little interaction from management. Good benefits.

    Cons

Poor management, has no clue as to what is occurring at client sites. Hard work not rewarded nor recognized. Not competitive in salary.

    Advice to Management

More hands-on management needed, on-site, regular interaction with employees.

I have been working at CBRE (More than 10 years)

    Pros

CBRE is a well respected, international platform that transacts numerous and often complicated and complex real estate transactions. The only Fortune 500 real estate company in the world.

    Cons

All management decisions tend favor the top income makers often to the determent of less fortunate producers. I've had a top producer change or refuse to pay me legitimate referral fees whereas in the reverse, I paid him every dime. Management does not want to risk angering their top producers.

    Advice to Management

There should be some type of remedy to resolve legitimate commission grievances. I understand the local management does not want to anger their top producer but that producer is not acting in good faith and is taking advantage of those being team players.
