Best money I have ever made.

    Account Executive (Former Employee)

ProsGreat people to work with, very good pay

ConsHigh pressure environment and too much turn over in management

Advice to Senior ManagementOur station was in constant turmoil with 32 managers filling 4 positions in 3 years. No one was given enough time to succeed.

Safe, flat, fatherly, and sometimes mundane.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat place that treats you like family. If you can hack the time it takes to grow (given that its an older demo), then you can settle in pretty well here.

ConsVery hierarchal. Company seems to be stuck in its ways a bit, and lacks innovation at several levels of business management.

Advice to Senior ManagementPossible think about developing a competitive LDP program to bring in new talent that will move the company into the 2nd quarter of the 21st century. Cultural and leadership aspects of the company still feel like circa 1988.

CBS doesn't have glass ceilings. CBS has concrete ceilings

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCBS is a well known brand so on the outside it looks pretty prestigious to work there. They offer good benefits.

ConsNot a good place to work if you're young and/or ambitious. Fresh ideas are not valued unless they come from people who are in the 'in crowd.' There is a major disconnect between management and employees. CBS is a company full of nepotism. It should be a place where meritocracy is valued but that will not happen as long as the current executive and senior level management is in place.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagers need to take leadership and management courses. Management does not know how to inspire and get the best work out of employees. Most people are just working to keep their jobs. Also, management needs to end the 'questionable promotion' of people who are clearly in over their heads.

Good people on a good team, but spread thin

    IT Analyst (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsChance to work with quality people (I am in IT) on state-of-the-art media delivery systems

ConsIt can be exhausting due to limited manpower.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou are paying a lot to iterate through things more times than needed because you do not provide the HR resources to get it right the first time.

    Benefits

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCBS has great benefits and treats their employees well. Excellent healthcare, vacation time, sick leave, holidays, 401k, and RSU plan for senior staff.

ConsThe company is large and different parts can work very differently. Many functions are duplicated across businesses. This can create competing internal rivalries.
