Pros
It is a recognized name in the industry. It is a large company.
Cons
No information sharing. Job bore no resemblance to advertised description.

Their idea of work/life balance is being available 24/7.
Employees are treated like commodities, easily replaced or job sent overseas

Encourage technical and professional development of employees.
Take advantage of employee competencies.
Hold your managers accountable for their teams' performance and give them and their teams the tools they need to do the job.

Hands-on learning with lots of support and no micro-management.
Cons
Communications can sometimes be a problem-but that is common in every job.

May be a little more structure, but not too much as to stifle learning.

The station I work at is a fun place to work. It can be fast paced and exciting at times, and the show I often work on allows and encourages creativity.
Cons
The hours are not fun. I get out of bed at 3:00 am most days. But that's life when you work on an early morning news show.
Advice to Senior Management
Low-level management here sometimes plays favorites and makes it plainly obvious. Some people get away with not working as hard as others and never get called on it by their supervisors.
Pros
Media Industry..... Number 1 in the ratings. Very sharp and bright people to work with. Exciting during the up-front process
Cons
Minimal lack of cooperation among departments...... Network, Sports, News, Entertainment, Stations. All are run separately with no desires to work together. Many opportunites for cost savings could have been had. Too bad!
Advice to Senior Management
There is a lot of talent in the middle management layers, but there needs to be a way to develop that to run the company in the future. Lots of leftover attitudes from the Westinghouse culture.

It was great to learn media selling and the industry. It incorporated a lot of knowledge and although my time was short, it was a great place to work.

Try to diversify advertising income to get away from the automotive industry and prevent reliance on one industry.

Lack of career path, executive management, penny-wise and pound foolish. Lack of incentive compensation below the VP level.

Invest more in employee development and incentives based compensation. Need a clear strategic direction

Management does not take suggestions from lower staff on ways to improve efficiency.
There really is no room for growth in the company. Many people stay in their positions for many years and there are not alot of openings.

Development younger staff so that they have more desire to stay with the company.
