Pros
Interesting, fast paced environment. Constant work flow and flexibility on what you work on
Cons
You have to learn things quickly
Pros
Electic culture; access to interdivisional/interdepartmental employment; excellent brand; smart people.
Cons
You must be a good politician. Be prepared to network within the company to make yourself known. Be prepared to fight for yourself and know how to do it for results you want. Cronyism is rampant. Unless you work in a "profit center," be prepared for few promotions and average compensation.
Advice to Senior Management
Get to know the "Little People." They are the ones who keep the shop going. Surround yourself with people beyond your comfort level.
Pros
Flexibility of hours.
Great environment.
Communication exist between interns and directors.
Cons
Salary might not be as competitive as if you were working in public accounting.
Advice to Senior Management
Interview process should be handled more professionally.
Pros
Benefits and compensation were the only good thing about this position.
Cons
Constant management changes--the door was revolved almost every three months. Perfect example of the Peter Principle with incompetence rising to the top. Unhealthy, mean-spirited, negative attitude from the top down. Account managers are *advised* to be dishonest with clients--promising things knowing they will not happen as purchased. Hell has to be better than this!
Advice to Senior Management
Not sure narcissistic megalomaniacs will take advice because they KNOW everything and more importantly only care about themselves and the money make.
Pros
It's a big company and can provide experience for grads looking for that opportunity.
Cons
Lack of information sharing
Cocky management
Not willing to listen to employee feedback
No confidence in employees
No growth/advancement
Poor salary increases (max 3%)
Unable to provide tools for employees to do their jobs
Advice to Senior Management
Develop your employees, ask for their feedback, compensate them fairly
Pros
Teams are small and fun to work with in most departments. Good learning opportunities to stay on top of new and emerging technologies. Great health benefits.
Cons
Management as usual! too much favoritism, practically next to none opportunities in career advancement. IT is definitely not the focus since it is considered a cost center through and through
Advice to Senior Management
trust your employees, giving the opportunities to advance learning but not giving opportunities to advance their careers is the dumbest idea.
Pros
Location and generally informal work environment. Company rules are basically non-existent.
Cons
Lack of cohesive company culture or fair and equitable pay and benefits. For example, pension benefits are provided to some employees but not to others. Pay structure is a mystery. No discernible HR involvement in managing employment or benefit issues. Old Westinghouse and CBS culture permeate the place and create a stale work environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Take an interest in your employees and treat them fairly and equitably and you may find employees who take an interest in the place. Better working facilities and more equitable and up-to-date benefits would be a good start.
Pros
Great people to work with. Nice and very friendly environment. Cafeteria is a good place to relax. Benefits are ok.
Cons
Communication about decision making needs to be improved. Long work hours. Slow raise and promotions. Very informal performance review based on feedback from direct management.
Advice to Senior Management
Performance review process needs to be developed. Communication about decisions and company standpoint needs to be developed. Need to rethink about promotions process.
Pros
Great company, offers stability, comfortable atmosphere and great co workers.
Cons
Hard to grow here because there is not a quick turnover with senior members moving on.
Pros
Flexible on time; Mid-management are good people.
Cons
No advancement; no employee training
Advice to Senior Management
They wouldn't care anyway.
