Fun times for zero pay.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at CBS Radio

ProsFun atmosphere with people who like music. Sometimes you got free concert tickets kicked down and access to some cool things around the city.

ConsIt is a job... by no means a career. There is no room for advancement and the pay is awful. You will spend 6 months to a year and then move on to something completely unrelated.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

CBS Radio is a fun place to work.

Promotions Assistant (Current Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at CBS Radio part-time

ProsIt is a fun, community-like experience. Veteran employees love what they do and do it well. More experienced people happy and willing to provide advice, help to younger folk. Organizers of the Alliance for Women in Media group work at CBS Radio and support young women in their career aspirations.

ConsAmbitious people with a passion for radio may feel they are not challenged in the Promotions Assistant position.

CBS Promotions.

Promotions Assistant (Current Employee)
Minneapolis, MN

I have been working at CBS Radio for more than a year

ProsI love working for CBS radio. I work in promotions and we have a lot of fun promoting what I love. We are all like family. We go out to events such as concert pre-parties, store promotions, the state fair.

Consthere are not many hours in radio promotions.

Horrible, worst experience ever

Sales Assistant (Former Employee)
Washington, DC

I worked at CBS Radio full-time for more than a year

ProsGot to see (and work with) a bunch of celebs, attend fun events, concerts, premieres.

ConsStressful!!! Very little pay for way too much workload. Revolving door with no stability. No promotions (ever), no pay increase, too much micromanaging.

You get what you put in

Part Time Producer (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at CBS Radio part-time for less than a year

Pros*entry to concerts and clubs
*fun environment
*ability to network with industry bigwigs depending on what station you're at

Be realistic about what you're applying for, and the industry that you want to get in. The experience is different for everybody. Set your goals and stick to them If there's no opportunity at the station you're at after 1 year, move on. But put yourself in a better position to move. Work hard, network, build your brand.

Cons*No raises
*If you're part time you have to sacrifice having a personal life to make money
*Little to no room to move up
*If you're not an on air host you dont mater
*90% of the people you deal with are LIARS
*90% of the people in the industry are crooked

Advice to Senior ManagementGive people more opportunities to move up.

Choose A Better Company

Promotions Coordinator (Former Employee)

I worked at CBS Radio part-time for more than a year

ProsThe name will look good on your resume.

ConsEmployees not helpful. You go to events and stand all day without a break, or food. We traveled to all the ballparks football stadium, car shows and out door events. We had to work in the cold without proper outerwear just to display their thin jackets logo. It did not matter if you're male or female they treated us horribly.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo back to school and get a real degree in working with people especially pubic relations and communications. You don't know how to do either.

It was a horrible experience. No one worked as a team and everyone was for themselves and HR never followed protocol.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at CBS Radio

ProsYou get to see a lot of celebrities. There were lots of free movie screenings as well.

ConsPeople aren't great, HR isn't supportive and the company is 10 years behind on technology. Worst company to work for.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice to CEO, start looking into your management team.

Everything was just OK. It wasn't a motivating atmosphere.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at CBS Radio full-time for less than a year

ProsBig name company. Cool music celebrities come through the office.

ConsFeels like the entire business and its processes are stuck back in 1990. Definitely don't get the top talent. People have been working there so long, there is nothing about the company that is attractive to fresh, young talent.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind new ways to make radio and traditional media more exciting and enticing to young employees.
