    Pros

You are provided with 1-2 weeks company paid training depending on the project, you can work overtime if you want to it is not necessary though, you do get a wide range of benefits for full-time that is pretty good for a college student or someone in their first office job. Also, the employees are a very good group to work with. For the most part they are down to Earth, work hard, but know how to have fun.

    Cons

The cons for this company would be the performance metrics. The metrics are grounded and fair, but if you have a stroke of bad luck it can hurt your standing with the company as well as your commission check. The starting pay isn't great. However, if you can do well in regards to metrics you are able to make a decent amount in commission. Also, the work is contract based. This means that if the company loses a contract they might have to lay you off if they don't have room on another project. CCS does offer cross project training and they do try to find spots for employees during labor reduction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would not pitch that there is excellent growth potential upon hire. I feel that while cross product training is growth and readily available many employees are thinking management, administration, and/or operations.

    Pros

This is not your typical "Collections Agency". They are professional, represent leaders in respective industries and thus take the high road. Good place for non-skilled workers as collectors. Another whole story for professionals. The company is a money maker for the owners and will be around so there is stability.

    Cons

This is a family owned and run company. They are cheap and will squeeze blood from a rock, but then turn around and waste money on a pet project of the owner - and produce nothing. Older workers are let go as soon as they make good money and can be replaced with a younger person for less money. Absolutely no loyalty to the workers that make them successful and make them lots of money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thank your lucky stars that you were born into this family or a friend of the family. If you had to get a job based on your skills and aptitude, you'd be flipping burgers - and that's insulting good burger flippers.

Too much favoritism by incompetent rule-breaking supervisors

I have been working at CCS Companies full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

insurance plans and other benefits seem to be above average, and human resources is actually very receptive and helpful when needed

    Cons

There is too much favoritism to both new and young employees often verging on age discrimination. Time off for "favorite" new employees is not questioned, while those who have actually earned it (PTO time) are discouraged from taking it. Some supervisors violate their own policies such as, for example, allowing some employees to put in for time off outside of the "30 day window". while others are told point blank they are not allowed to do this. "Occurences" are given to some employees, but not to others for the exact same situations, and some employees (including supervisors) have 6 and more occurences but not have been given warnings and have not been terminated. There is a supervisor who is out very frequently-every few weeks she takes 1 or more days off, and is setting a very poor example for the people who work for her. FAVORITISM, which might be considered as discrimination, often as age or in other ways is awful here, and might soon be an issue for human resources or taken to an outside, higher, level. "Policies" are inconsistently applied, and this is noticed-especially in the inconsistent application of occurences. I work in the Portsmouth, NH office in collections as a customer service agent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please be fair to all employees, and be consistent in application of all policies and rules-please do not violate your own policies, and please do not allow for "exceptions" as an excuse for unfairness and possible discrimination-yes, employees are noticing this.

    Pros

Lots of overtime and job security.

    Cons

Barely any raises and they're cheap. Dead end.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit being cheap and treat long time employees better and give raises to those that have been there for a long time and have been loyal.

    Pros

Challenging work, I had a great boss who always had my back and found opportunities to highlight my strengths to others whenever possible. I learned a lot, but I credit that to my immediate manager, not to the company as a whole.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive, benefits are mediocre, very little opportunity for upward mobility. The systems were always crashing and very limited in functionality. Lost many good people to higher paying jobs. Culture was kind of a downer...I mean, it IS a collection company, and the cut-throat nature of the industry carried into the day to day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The cost of losing good people is much greater than the cost of paying them what they're worth.

I have been working at CCS Companies full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Office right off the highway. Easy commute. Huge cafeteria but the food is pricey. If you need a job, they hire anyone with a pulse. Nice office space. Mediocre benefits. It's better than sitting home doing nothing. Decent training, but no management training.

    Cons

Shift hours that you are required to work. People always talking about other people behind their backs. Some people don't belong here but get treated well because the know someone.
They have a team of people who couldn't "cut it" in collections so they made them the micro-manager cops who silently monitor your calls and write you up for the most ridiculous things so you lose any chance of a bonus and possibly your job. You need to wear a hazmet outfit in order to use the women's bathroom, it is so disgusting. High turnover. Seen a lot of really good, knowledgeable, people let go for no apparent reason. They frown upon you being nice to customers which many of us do not understand. In same cases you will get written up for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen more to the suggestions and act on employee concerns instead of just going through the motions like you are going to do something about it and don't. Very rarely see the owner. The company never informs the employees on what is going on which creates a rumor mill of lay-offs and uncertainty. Local competition pays more money but you have to sell your sole for it, but in today's economy it might be worth it.

I worked at CCS Companies full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A very quite and professional atmosphere. The hours are very acceptable as the job is very typically a 9-5 job with no nights or weekends, unless you are in the IT/software development groups which monitor the systems and applications.

    Cons

Not very competitive with their salaries compared to other companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try giving back to the workers who are exceeding expectations instead of gracing those individuals with more work as their reward. You may find those people would actually stay with the company longer.
