Current Employee – been working at CD-adapco full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Results oriented management structure. Adaptable and ready to undertake new projects. Invests strongly in product development. Flexible work environment. Plenty of travel. Privately owned company that can make decisions, take risks, including the risk of an occasional mistake.
Cons – Not many cons outside of the fact that working anywhere always has challenges. The pressure can be high, which is also a motivation. The pay is a little low for the expertise level.
Advice to Senior Management – Boost compensation. If you're worried about ongoing obligations, give out bonuses.

Current Employee – been working at CD-adapco full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – CD-adapco is a good company to work for and learn, especially for those just coming out of school. The projects are fast paced and the learning curve is high. Company culture is very demanding so if you have a tough time drawing the line between work and life it will walk all over you. Pressure to meet deadlines can be high and people do burn out.
The work is challenging and there are many opportunities to tackle highly visible projects. It can get monotonous but you are free to carve your own niche, just make sure it's something you like to do. Much of the services work gets done using the company’s own software which means that you’ll be using it an expert level quickly. The people are excellent and take pride in their work. They will help you and share their knowledge. One of the few perks: no dress code.
The Melville office is the US headquarters and you may see the top brass on a daily basis if you work there. This gives the nice feeling you are working for a very small company, although I can’t say that they are too personable, just business. The CFD market and the company is also growing fast, so jump on before it’s too late.
Cons – Salary is ok but not great, especially for the area, which is not the cheapest. No 401k matching and only two weeks of vacation to start means that many people move on after a few years. Stressful atmosphere doesn't help matters. I've seen many good people leave primarily for this last reason alone even though they enjoyed the work and people a great deal. The services group is very lateral and there is little room to grow beyond supervisor.
Advice to Senior Management – Get to know your people and align your interests with theirs. Recognize that they want to do a good job and have a life too.

Former Employee – worked at CD-adapco
Pros – Overall, I think the company has a great product and some very talented people. Employees in other departments seemed to enjoy their work. I was impressed with senior management during the interview process, but unfortunately there is a missing link via middle management in the department where I worked.
Cons – My particular department was unprofessional, disorganized, and bullying. Management had very poor commuincation among themselves as well as with their staff. Employees were subject to and penalized for policies not posted anywhere in the workplace or in any company material, however, the policies were enforced and applied selectively among employees in the same department for the very same infractions. I left a secure position for the job they presented and they completely changed the job within three months. There is absolutely no system of checks and balances here. Hands down the worst place I've ever worked.
Advice to Senior Management – Audit your departments to determine truth as conveyed by middle management and to ensure quality. Be professional and give notice for reviews, report them accurately, and give employees a chance to review and comment. Also, criticizing what you perceive as someone's breathing in a formal review is unprofessional. Work on communication skills and training skills and don't turn your department against each other.

Current Employee – been working at CD-adapco full-time for more than a year
Pros – No License Fees and no restriction on Parallel Licenses ;-)
Heaven for any CFD Simulation Engineer
Cons – May not be best for real product development, i mean in the sense of developing any components, but in terms of CFD Software itself as a product, might be the best.
Advice to Senior Management – There is always scope for improvement no matter how good we are.

Former Employee – worked at CD-adapco
Pros – Smart people to work with
Apportunity to learn
Variaty of tasks
Wide scope of software, CFD and physics
Flexibility
Cons – Average salary
Lack of career progress
Some lack of reward for hard work and special talent
Advice to Senior Management – invest more in your base workforce (not senior management). Offer more apportunity for career progress with same or more importance as company growth. A fairly rewarded employee (in terms of both career growth and salary/reward) will input even more into the growth of your company.

Current Employee – been working at CD-adapco
Pros – Good starting Salary, Get to work on cutting edge technology. People with great experience are on board. Highly talented people to work with.
Cons – No growth opportunities. Poor benefits. No 401k matching. Feel isolated in 1 office with no connection with corporate. No bonus, no profit sharing, very minimal annual salary raise. Just 1 party a year, which isn't exciting anyways.
Advice to Senior Management – Company should Improve benefits package. It should also match 401k contributions. Provide more growth opportunities. Provide more transparency. Should think about giving annual bonus. Vacation time is also too low.
