I worked at CEMEX (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decen pay and benefits, and PTO allotment.

    Cons

Upper level management do not care about employees and will tell you this. Your ideas are not wanted or asked for. No work/home life balance even while on vacation you are still expected to answer the phone. One particular GM ran his people on fear, and you never knew which person you would get from day to day, and you would come to work wondering if it would be your last day. They hold managers accountable for all injuries and take bonuses away due to injuries but would not let you fix safety issues because of money and also not enough man power to even do the normal every day work load. Upper management are pricing the company right out of buissness in the area and continue to loose long time customers everyday.

    Advice to Management

They don't listen anyway and have lost a lot of great people such as myself that always gave 110% all day everyday for over twelve years. It's a sad sad place to work.

I worked at CEMEX as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The office was laid back

    Cons

Worst training ever. Supervisor was poorly trained and refused to train. Office was highly unprofessional Real Manager was never around

    Advice to Management

Please hire managers who are properly trained. Manager should take workshops every six months about job and having proper interpersonal relationships with co workers

    Pros

The pay is ok and it is a job during a bad economy. It is close to home and the shift schedule is a positive.

    Cons

Hourly employees are viewed by company managers as expendable at all levels. The prevailing attitude of Cemex managers at the plant and corporate levels is that you are lucky to have a job in a bad economy. If you don't like the way we treat you, get out. True enough about the economy but not much of a calling card as an employer.

    Advice to Management

Realize that without production people this company has no product to sell. Shake the third world notion that whatever level of experience you bring to the table as an employee, we can find someone to do your job for less money.
