    Pros

All growth you can get; challenging projects, master degrees, interesting colleagues and international experience!

    Cons

You need to be willing to relocate. Also, some of your bosses could be not very fair or stimulating. Burocratic!

    Advice to Management

If you want to continue to be the leader, customers really need to come first in your strategy.

    Pros

    Work is challenging
    People is smart and helpful
Perks of the job are good
You get a sense of pride in the company because of what they do and all the countries that they are in.

    Cons

    Work-life balance
    Work load is usually high
Stress levels get above normal many times because you want to get all the things done in regular hours but many times you end up staying more time, without being compensated for such.

    Advice to Management

In the offices of Cemex Central, the food offering should be better so that employees can eat in the company without leaving.

    Pros

Global leverage is there but due to downsizing people do not have enough time to network with those outside the country.

    Cons

Autocratic and bureaucratic management practices are taking the toll on this company. They are not able to grow as other players in the market which has caused them to lose market share.

    Advice to Management

    Hire young and smart people

    Pros

CEMEX is a world-class company with very competent management, unmatched in corporate Mexico.

    Cons

The building materials industry might be somewhat limiting in terms of career evolution, when trying to switch to other fields.

    Pros

Expert, professional committed ground-level staff. Products you can be proud of. Probably still the best construction materials company around.

    Cons

No life-work balance. Staff seen as dispensable commodities and expected to do the work of 2 or 3 people. Endemic, sometimes blatant sexism - embarrassing for any man to see who has any sense of decency. Climate of fear where people are frightened to say when anything is wrong in case they are victimised or blamed for it.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your staff with respect.

    Pros

OK Pay and benefits, not unusual in the industry though

    Cons

    Life/Work balance is not good
No career path, the same people keep rotating each other's job
    Layoffs were constant

    Advice to Management

Take interest in the sales force

    Pros

Among the pros that I found during my tenure as Advisor are warm camaraderie amongst colleagues, rich and diverse cross-functional projects and a stellar array of the industry's top talents.

    Cons

I found it particularly hard to make an international transfer although it was something to expect during a bad season for the industry.
