I have been working at CEVA Logistics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work in the Corporate Office. Decent facilities, great management structure, upper management is engaging and open to new ideas.

    Cons

Owned by a equity group who is always focused on cost containment and running very lean. Challenging to keep up with customer demand and continually providing a high level of customer satisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have to spend money to make money. You can run too lean!

I worked at CEVA Logistics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

CEVA has tremendous capability and a vast array of services that reach across the globe. This translates to lots of opportunities for growth and interesting career paths, especially for younger people. Benefits are solid, PTO is generous for salaried people. Many of the management team members I have met at CEVA are extremely smart and hard working.

    Cons

CEVA has been owned by private equity too long. Investments in IT, training, and equipment have been squeezed too many years in a row. Achievement is largely due to herculean individual efforts. The bag of tricks (recapitalization, paying vendors slowly, no raises) is tapped out. It's tough to believe it will ever get better until the company is sold and new ownership can invest

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Apollo needs to either sell the company or invest for the long term. To quote Warren Buffett, treat it like a business and not an investment.

I have been working at CEVA Logistics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice people and a truly global environment. You will get to work daily with people from all parts of the world. I do believe most that work at CEVA are committed to the customer and want the company to have success.

    Cons

It's owned by a private equity and has been for more then eight years, and that presents challenges. The company has had three CEOs in the span of 18 months, which leads to a continual change in strategy. The company is also consistently losing money, so while it's goal may be to go public, it seems more likely that the current management team, which has changed completely in the last few months, will probably be sold off either in entirety or in pieces. Not a place a prospective employee should consider if stability is important in your career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize your employees more to try and stop the high churn rate. While it's understandable new management will bring in new employees, at the same time you're undermining the morale of the existing employees who keep getting asked to run the company when the management keeps turning over every year. This prevents any long-lasting work relationships from forming, and these are key to running a successful business, especially in supply chain and logistics. There seems to be some questions about direction under the new CEO, who has a background in the supply chain and logistics world from a number of years ago, but is more a private equity person. He may very well be committed to the company long term, but he needs to communicate that more effectively and meet more directly with employees. That's advice I would give to all the senior management, especially since many are so new. The employee base feels removed from them.

Low pay, poor equipment, tons of stress, (this was the rail fueling part of the company)

Former Employee - Lead Driver in New York, NY

    I worked at CEVA Logistics

    Pros

Most of the drivers are great, hard workers. Some of the regional managers were life long drivers and understood the drivers and the issues at hand. Employed there 5 years.

    Cons

In the rail fueling group Pay is disgustingly low, the tractors were leased, the tankers were old and in poor shape. They don't pay their repair bills leaving the driver to deal with all the stress dumped on you by the customer. Newer management is inexperienced and and generally have no clue about the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want good employees raise the pay , melt down the old beat up equipment ( it would serve better as paper weights) purchase/lease new equipment.
