Pros – Ok if you are brand new to processing

Cons – Management are clueless - have no idea what is going on or how people feel. Horrible culture. Management only care about themselves. Overall not worth sticking around. Free food and activities don't make up for lack of leadership.

Advice to Senior Management – Get out of your office and talk to to people for a change. Don't be so arrogant and uncaring.

Pros – .near China town, easy to find cheap food near the office

Cons – .load of work, usually people work more than 10 hours a day plus weekends.
.old East Germany spy network, someone is watching every move you make. eg. number of washing breaks, how long was daily lunch break you take and when did you come to and leave from work etc. You get rewarded for reporting someone who is late for work.
.Houston version of Foxconn.

Advice to Senior Management – A lot of the managers have violate labor law in CGGVeritas. eg. Many managers threaten to fire people if they don't work long overtime days after days. I am surprised no one has reported the poor work condition to Department of Labor.

Pros – Very dynamic and fast pace. It is a very good place to learn everything about seismic imaging.

Cons – stressful, working over time is normal, hard to have a work and life balance

Pros – If you are a hardworking Chinese geophysicist you have found a piece of heaven at Houston's data processing center, located right on the edge of Houston's own Chinatown.
CGGVeritas provides you an authentic Chinese cultural and work experience, without ever leaving Texas.
Most of the workers here are Chinese and you will find it not necessary to speak English, as Chinese is the predominant language spoken in the office.
Most all the top managers are also Chinese which is nice.

Cons – The processing department is run similar to Chinese sweatshops, just with better pay.
There is a revolving door of new hires coming in to replace the worn and burnt out.
Be prepared to work 80 hr weeks.
