I worked at CGI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Hey they send a $30 gift if a child is born

    Cons

I did work for one consultant organisation before CGI. But CGI is more stingier.

Hey Btw, even though they make money from english clients/countries, you can feel the underlying discrimination against those who do not know french fluently (in Montreal). Keep in mind the founders put in more "french requirement on employees" than the Quebec language police.

    - They won't know what you are working on for the client.
    - They won't bother about you/training/salary etc as long as you make money for them.

They didn't hire me straight and train. A bank wanted someone to work for cheap, so they connected me for the interview call, and the rest is you work for the bank, whereas CGI does not invest in your career growth. You are the remote resource for the bank/client.

CGI had a sentence "We will fund for your training, however if you quit within 2 years after getting the certification, you have to reimburse" - I never took the training, cause I'm not sure I would want to stay.

I think the whole industry is moving in the direction of "I want pre-trained people that I don't want to care for, I'll pay pittance and overwork them".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Their moto is "make value for share holder", which is good, but if they does not take care of "care for employee training/satisfaction", well they will endup creating ObamaCare websites, thus endup reducing value for shareholder.

I have been working at CGI Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Flexibility (work from home). Good people for the majority.

    Cons

Business model restricts any kind of organic growth. Flat org structure so no room for advancement. Senior Management extremely poor in employee management. Simply do not care about employees. No real leaders in business unit (GWCM), just "bosses". No vision beyond quarter, and will cut employees in order to make quarterly targets.

Anyone who either speaks up and tries to support employees is either let go, or reassigned, and most good people end up leaving.

Depressing environment, HR does little to help change.

if you are coming here, ensure you get a good salary in order to justify then demoralizing atmosphere.

I have been working at CGI Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Work-life balance
    Salary package
    Technology exposure
    Shares
    Discounted tickets to shows, parks

    Cons

    HR
Appraisal - was once told by my appraiser that he couldn't rate me because he had just started overseeing my work and didn't know me enough.
Overtime management - The toil bank is pretty much a farce. The toil bank limits are ignored when we need to work extra hours but they are considered when the project is over and we have to use all the toil used.

I worked at CGI Group as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

There is a lot of opportunities to learn and grow in the company. The company pays fairly well. They love to rehire after graduation.

    Cons

The work can sometimes be really intensive. The training can sometimes cause a problem depending on how adequate the previous co-op student trained you.

I have been working at CGI Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

They offer flexibility on working schedule which is nice for someone with family obligations. They allow employees to work remotely occasionally.

    Cons

It used to be a good company to work for, a lot of support from the management on how an employee can improve in his work, but slowly, management is being replaced by people from another unit, and consequently changed the culture. There's no more room for career growth, especially now that a lot of layoffs is happening within the company because of the outsourcing to India. As a result, a lot of people leaving looking for a better opportunities outside.
