Pros
Okay place to start up your career or if you just want to get by.
Basic benefits but with co pays.
Good share purchase plan benefits.
Cons
Chances for advancement is possible but very long... You will have to be extremely patient.
Some projects just lag too far behind and you will be stuck if your project is on the lower end.
Management wait until problems become very big before reacting... then everyone will be affected.
Discrimination based on priority of projects. Advancement and pay obvoiusly becomes unbalanced.
Advice to Senior Management
Design new employee motivation techniques on the local level.
Need more proactive Managers on the local level aswell
Pros
- Stock Options program is very intersting
- Training programs
- family oriented
- global benifits
- 3 weeks holiday when you start
Cons
It is hard to switch to another business unit, It is almost impossible unless youare very patient.
when there is a position open somewhere in the world for CGI there is no priority for CGI peoples.
Advice to Senior Management
CGI is a great compagny and offer possibilities but It would be great if you just dont base your evalutation on mission review.
Pros
Friendly atmosphere,flexible timings, Decent pay
Cons
If you are on a good project you are fine, else things might get difficult
Pros
Very smart people - leadership especially in Federal and State and Local
Good rewards - stock purchase is great
Proud to be part of CGI, history
Cons
CGI has yet to come to grips with the Commercial market. Need to invest and brand - likely need an acquisition
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out the commercial space - get in with some investment or get out.
Pros
Flexible working hours can be often arranged.
Building in Rene Levesque W. is top notch (but voices are growing that the company can no longer afford it)
Cons
- Poorest management I have witnessed in 25 years of career.
- Extremely bureaucratic and lot of internal politics (think Bell, HydroQC as a close comparison)
- Company is managed with stock price in mind and sacrificing anything else. Given the striking mediocrity of its management, all they manage to do is cutting expenses, not waste, but the company is dying because of waste.
Advice to Senior Management
Other reviewers have said it already. This company works with very cumbersome processes which nobody fully understand or follow. An enormous waste is the result of this. The company can only be saved through a serious business process reengineering effort. Nobody among the management seem to want it, so I am very pessimistic for this company future.
There is a very heavy atmosphere and plenty of good people is leaving to other companies (generally competitors), another sign that we see it as a sinking boat. The usual slouches will stay, no doubt.
If you are considering working for CGI, well, my advise is to think twice or more.
Pros
Flexibility,Transport,Access to Internet,Friendly Managers,Trainings
Cons
Need to Provide Onsite oppurtunities
Advice to Senior Management
Need to Provide Onsite oppurtunities
Pros
Work - personal life balance
good pay depending on the skills
work timings are flexible
Peer support is good
Cons
No support in terms of professional or career growth.
No proper and regular discussion/feedback on the work you do.
Dump all kinds of work irrespective for what you were hired for.
Very odd timings to adhere to for most of the projects.
Layoffs happen without a proper discussion or feedback process in place.
Managers have the last say in almost all the matters - parallel HR role is a dummy.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers need to take regular feedback on the work being done by their teams and focus on the member's career growth.
Provide the work for what the members were hired for and not dump all the stuff on them just to keep them busy.
