I have been working at CGI full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Interesting colleagues, stock purchase plan. There is an effort to support employee morale thru get togethers and after hour events which is good as the commitment level required is high so your personal and family life is compromised.

    Cons

Long hours without overtime compensation. Leadership is somewhat spotty, most managers do not have any training. There is a tendency to move managers around so you're constantly figuring who to satisfy and what the expectations are.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time listenining to your employees.

    I worked at CGI

    Pros

Sink or swim environment. If you are able to swim, you will get various tasks to build you skillset and set yourself up for growth.

    Cons

Pathetic salaries and bonuses! No true/clear paths to career growth within the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It might be better to tell employees before the first week of January that you are not awarding or are restructuring annual/holiday bonuses. Also, telling employees that they shouldn't worry about their salaries b/c if they spent all of their income investing in CGI, they would have seen a better return than a salary increase is a hard pill for college hires to swallow when you are barely paying them enought to make ends meet.

    I worked at CGI

    Pros

CGI takes care of employee's interests of work. Not too much pressured and a wonderful environment of work and co workers.

    Cons

A little difficult in communication when you are working onsite with the client. The employee feels cutoff from the rest of the company while onsite

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is great to work with and provides good opportunity to individuals who have good skills and desire to enhance and learn more. Please find a way to maintain oneness amongst employees working onsite.

I have been working at CGI

    Pros

The colleagues are competent and hard-working! The company's upper-most leadership in Canada seem to really care about the employees. The benefits are good.

    Cons

The local management is not attuned to the employees. Employees are not valued for their experience and are treated as indispensable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at your turnover rates for employees. A serious brain drain is going on. Hiring inexperienced workers fresh out of of college to replace your more experienced employees will lead to increased turnover rates.

I have been working at CGI

    Pros

CGI offers very talented and dedicated team players that are willing to go above and beyond for the good of the company and in the spirit of helping the team. The employees are the owners and they take great care in cultivating a great team attitude and knowledge sharing.

    Cons

Compensation is determined when you negotiate your salary and there is little room for salary increases above COLA once they have you on board. Benefits have been cut again and again and are teetering on unacceptable. All of the incentives and bonuses are dealt out to upper management, leaving chump change to the "worker bees." There is a joke of a 401k/retirement plan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Members should not have to work in a position for 1 or 2 years before they are compensated for performing at levels of higher responsibility. Compensation should be rewarded when additional responsibilities are assigned. There should be a clear path to advancement and the ability for members to receive salary "bumps" when they are performing at levels that are beyond what they were originally recruited upon.
