I worked at CGI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Learn a lot through baptism by fire. Some flexibility in work schedule, depending on project. Variety in project work. Good amount of autonomy. Salary good, but other benefits like health insurance not good.

    Cons

Travel assignments can be very demanding and impact personal life. Seems like you are always expected to be on call. Although you are an employee, you will be terminated after an assignment ends if you do not find another billable assignment in a couple of weeks (you are expected to be extremely dedicated and loyal to the company, but it is not reciprocated).

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like human beings and not just commodities.

  2. Improve on personal development

I worked at CGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

hard working staff, decent benefits and competitive pay.

    Cons

Too much beuraucracy in the workplace and on the projects. Too much time spent for not enough learning. They need do a better job with social club, which does like one event every six months. A lot of hardworking employees get bad raises because of budgets.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to get contracts just for the sake of getting contracts, take better care of your employees and stop bleeding talent.

    I worked at CGI full-time

    Pros

Unlimited sick time, great work from home options, highly skilled coworkers, matching stock option program, the ability to earn extra PTO.

    Cons

It is physically impossible to do everything that is required of you in 40 hours a week, but that doesnt matter anyway because the minimum hours per week was 48. Which they did not mention during the hiring process. Terrible salary, terrible morale, the surrounding area is terrible to live in unless you have a penchant for farming.

    Advice to Management

Treat your people better and pay them better or else you will face a mass exodus. It is only a matter of time.

    Advice to Management

I have seen managers and directors for 20+ years in their positions..company should encourage new blood and give others opportunity.

good real world experience. They throw you into programming pretty quickly, and while there is help there if you need it/ask for it, you have the opportunity to figure it out on your own.

    Cons

projects and their requirements can be fluid. So you might find yourself rewriting a program to deal with new needs.
