    I worked at CGI

    Pros

Work life balance is about the only thing I could say.

    Cons

The company is pretty disorganized. It is not uncommon for you to find out something needs done on the day that it is due. The communication seems to hit road blocks as it makes its way down the hierarchy.

I worked at CGI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great down-to-earth people to work with. Easy to be on a team. Great benefits.

    Cons

Not great if you're young and looking for fast mobility or challenges. It takes about a year to learn all you need to know for you role. After that, it's downhill from there. There's nothing new.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't think that improving morale is putting people in focus groups to come up with non-solutions. Do your job.

Acceptable for college hires, not so much for experienced developers

I worked at CGI full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked for the Federal part of CGI. The only good thing I can say for this company is it provides a place for people straight out of college to start and get a big name on their resumes. Start here from college, stay for three years, and then go somewhere else.

    Cons

The management in charge of projects has no idea how to gather requirements. The salaries for developers are at least ten thousand lower than industry standards. There is no contingency planning at all. If something fails they just keep beating the dead horse.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some real training in project management and stop putting unqualified people in charge of developement.

I have been working at CGI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Leadership can be good depending on the group you are in as in any company, they are pretty flexible for work schedule but many other places are the same.

    Cons

Pretty much everything, their pay is below industry standard, no healthcare, no clear direction for promotion, company values are unclear. The company is so big it takes forever to make any kind of changes, no one seems to know exactly how things work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop saying you care, and actually do care! Give us some decent freaking healthcare! Pay the people who matter more, you keep losing them and then scratching your head wondering why things fail. It's not rocket science! Its also EXTREMELY difficult to get rid of people who are not adding anything to a project, we should be able to get rid of under-performers no questions asked and reward the overachievers.

    Pros

There are some great people that work here and projects with clients that are enthusiastic about moving forward or at least keeping up with technology. Specific projects will allow you to continue to further your career.

    Cons

There are some very incompetent people around and there's no effort to let these deadweight go. In turn, it's difficult to manage the client's expectations due to people not carrying their weight around the project.

I have been working at CGI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Some of the people are cool.

    Cons

Supervisors, particular location far from restuarants, Shady people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management at this location is all over the place. The rules don't apply to everyone. They cater to people who suck up. There is no communication. HR policies are weird. If you work OT and have PTO on the same check, you will not be paid OT pay, just regular pay. Have people coming in late to work on a daily basis, but recording an earlier time on the sign in sheet, nothing is said. Contractors do most the work. When you try to apply to other positions management "forgets" to interview you. Low morale. Really no room for growth here and really nothing good to say about this place.

    Pros

Good , friendy, talented , hardworking people in lower ranks.

    Cons

Managers/Leaders act as some demigods. they think they are the most powerful people in the world. multiple/duplicate managers. no knowledge on any subject. they just talk some crap.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change all your managers and leaders. especially those who stuck in CGI for more than 10 years.

I have been working at CGI full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent salary. Location ( if you live in Northern VA). Flexibility on some projects to work remotely.

    Cons

After the Healthcare website fiasco, they are not winning new projects. Future prospects seem bleak at least in the short term. This means fewer opportunities. Can be stressful, as they are focussed on not losing their current projects which also seem to be shrinking in size whenever they come for rebids.

I worked at CGI full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good folks to work with. Management / Team members were helpful and made work not feel like work.
Corporate environment balances work and personal life very well.
Goals are reasonable and well thought out for optimum performance.
    Career growth was emphasized.

    Cons

Not much to say here. Just regular nit-picking stuff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the balance between office and personal life of employees. This really helped me want to give 100% to my work.
