Current Employee – been working at CH2M HILL full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Work-life balance is encouraged and supported through things like flexible working schedules. Supervisors' primary concern is getting the job done, and they give me latitude to figure out how to get there. The work itself is interesting and engaging, and I enjoy colleagues both within my business group and throughout the enterprise.
Cons – There are often many levels of approval/notification required to move something forward, and it's easy to leave someone out - and they usually aren't happy about it. Not clear how my work fits into the company overall, nor what the plan is for moving that work forward. Benefits are OK - would like to see them beef up the 401K match, lowest of anyplace I've ever worked.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate more effectively, particularly if it involves significant changes to the company overall or to individuals' jobs.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

The projects and work are interesting.
Having many offices allow staying with the company when moving to another geographic area.
Telecommuting is commmon.
Office facilities are genrally very good.

Billing is expected to be 100%.
Poor support for attending training and professional development events.
There is no way to settle disagreeements between project managers and technical experts.
The corporate culture fosters blaming and backstabbing rather than collaboration and problem solving.
As in many large engineering firms, the environmental division is a sideshow to support the engineering practice.
Work is stovepiped with poor communicaitons and cooperation.
Long-time employees say it has grown quickly through acquisitions but still operates like a small local office.
Individuals market their services internally to project managers with little coordination or support.
Records and document retreival infrastructure is very poor.
Bonus pay is not common.
Managers must rate at least 15 percent of employess as unsatisfactory.
Workloads are uneven and vacation/sick leave must be saved to carry through light work periods.
Orientaiton and integration is poor without clear explanations of expectations.
Advice to Senior Management – Revise the PEP program to foster coooperative solutions rather than finger-pointing.

Former Employee – worked at CH2M HILL
Pros – The pay is generally on par with competitors, benefits, profit sharing, your given all you need to work when ever where ever, blackberry/labtop/truck.
Cons – Its who you know, especially in the construction side of the house. They watch each other's backs and could careless about the real workhorses. There is no respect for the field engineer, your basically doing anything and everything regardless of knowledge or managerial support. And when you complain about being over worked or question the logic your treated as incompetent. There is no encouragement for growth or structure for promotion. The main goal is profit driven by bonuses for upper management. Its no wonder they can't seem to win any bids. No future in this company and will only get worse the more companies they seem to buy up....
Advice to Senior Management – Pay attention to your young engineers they are the future of the business. Train and encourage your people respect your people, don't just preach/tweet/blog to the wall ensure all your management is practicing what your adamant about.

Current Employee – been working at CH2M HILL
Pros – Great benefits, 401k match, affordable health insurance, choose of different health insurances, descent pay, knowledgeable co-workers. Great place to work and expand your career. Great communication from upper management. Very versatile types of work. Great PTO program.
Cons – Tight with raises, even when out preform all your co-workers. Reward program is lacking for hourly employees. Constant worry over length of employment due to types of contacts working on.
Advice to Senior Management – Improve the continuing education program. People can't get new degrees without taking loans to pay for the tuition. Also re-work the yearend review process, does it really take 5 months to give out a 3% raise?
