I have been working at CHS Inc

    Pros

no good reason to work here...none at all

    Cons

CHS Logistics has been advertising for a job here in Enid. I have worked for them. I would like to tell you what your are in for. First, the have electronic logs. What they fail to tell you is you will be pushed beyond your working hours on a routine basis. They can fix your logs back at the office very easily. The trucks are TRASH and by trucking standards, calling a truck pure d TRASH is saying alot. Also, those automatic trucks don't work very well once it gets muddy around here... The farmer you deliver to will fully expect you to fertilize some portion of their farm...which is not your job. Also the benefits are certainly not what they appear to be. Do yourself and more importantly your family a favor and just steer clear.

I worked at CHS Inc as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Nice location: easy access from any direction. Very busy environment.u

    Cons

Current employees look at contract employees like they are second class citizens. They are disrespectful and outright mean to anyone who is coming in a filling a need that the company/department needs. The employees all have worked there decades and need a refresher course on professionalism. They sit around a complain and make personal phone calls more than work and that's probably why they need a contract worker. Also there is a large parking lot just across the street from the building. This lot is an overflow lot and much easier to park-walk and get into the building but current employees feel it is only for the contract workers and some sort of penalty if you park there. Employees are scared to leave the building at lunch for fear of loosig their parking spot. Really weird people that work there. They don't allow any flexibility - they will not small talk to any contract person. Management micromanages every aspect of their workers every minute right down to not allowing certain days of the month for vacations. Very two-faced and If you are sick, you had better show up - especially if it is month-end. IT is slow - don't expect the IT department to fix your problem or even guess as to what it is. I had a graphic card go out on my computer which is very common, and it took them two weeks to figure it out. And it was a new and huge deal that the employees were allowed to wear jeans on a Friday!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go undercover and listen to all the gripping at the lunch hour and in-between the cubes. Get out of the 80s. Just because the corner store says 1982, doesn't mean you have to live in the past. Get over the good old boys club mentality and hire some professional young, women/men or anyone who isn't white in upper management who are actually qualified for their jobs because there isn't anyone but middle aged (old) white and very LARGE men. Get rid of all the dead weight in the departments. There are so many positions that only collect a paycheck and bad employees move around like a shell game. Also, it would be advantageous to get the management into some interpersonal relationship training. If you want to stay relevant, better start looking to what the younger generation needs or you will have openings for years and turnaround that will cost CHS millions.

    Pros

Friendly coworkers, good compensation and benefits.

    Cons

Excessive travel at times. Poor leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask yourself, why are so many people in this business unit leaving? Is it those who left or those that are still around that are the issues. Maybe Solbar wasn't a good idea so own up to it.

I have been working at CHS Inc full-time

    Pros

The benefit packages are good. Wages are competitive. That is about all the pros that I can comment on for this company. I do like my job.

    Cons

Immediate supervisor/dispatcher is less than professional. Allows irrelevant personal experiences to convolute his supervisoral decisions. Plays favorites and does not follow seniority protocols. Equipment is, from A-F, a C to a C- at best. Work load subject to dispatchers disgression.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Require communication classes and personal interaction training for supervisors. Anger management classes. Supervisors should be reviewed by a 3rd party bi-annually, to include anonymous feedback from employees and co-workers.

I worked at CHS Inc full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The company had a good benefit package. I was a local representative and was like a leased employee.

    Cons

A lot of corporate bull. Meetings all the time. Corporate changed its mind several times. There was a kind of good ole boy network.
That could be good or bad, depending on if you were in the network.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a life outside of CHS,Inc. Get exercise to enjoy all the money you will retire with.

I worked at CHS Inc as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

They are in the beginning stages of change across the company. The strategy makes sense and there appears to be movement. The company will be transformed, in the right direction, I think.

It's a professional environment. People are nice and seem happy for the most part.

    Cons

In the IT department, it appears that there is a lack of overall strategic direction/leadership. Each department seems to be working independently and there seems to be a lot of conflict between teams. IT lacks a common goal, clear priorities and vision. Very reactionary and makes decisions based on "squeaky wheel" and politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To IT Sr. leaders, clarify roles and responsibilities and communicate shared goals and expectations to help employees become empowered to make the right decisions at lower levels.
