I worked at CHS full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Large employer in the area. A lot of opportunity for lateral movements in the company. Good benefits in regards to paid time off.

    Cons

Unrealistic goals for many departments. Not much opportunity for vertical movement in the company, unless you know someone and can call in favors. Harsh when it comes to patients and billing.

Former Employee - Office Work in Ponca City, OK

I worked at CHS part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great co-workers!!!! Small community, good immediate supervisors. Free lunches occasionally. Annual employee Holiday party. Good PTO accruement, good employee perks when having a service at that facility or other CHS owned hospitals.

    Cons

Below average pay, apparently they don't believe in raises since they give a 2% yearly raise across the board. NO merit increases. This company does not believe in moving their experienced workers and promoting from within. The more work you do, the more they expect with NO compensation, therefore lack of employee engagement. Typical big corporation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just remember, the workers are the ones who do the work and are on the front lines working hard. Without them, you wouldn't get your big bonuses.

I have been working at CHS

    Pros

Making a difference for children and families, well-known in the community, good support from supervisor, pleasant direct coworkers, some level of independence and autonomy.

    Cons

Poor communication within the organization, tolerance of poor behavior in some employees, some lack of cooperation between departments, low salaries and miniscule raises

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improvement in communication and openness to feedback with some address would go a long way to improving morale and commitment.
