    I worked at CIBC

    Pros

    Smart management team that has deep experience in digital marketing and technology.
    Only place I have worked in which management actively encourages employees to try out different jobs and work in different departments.
    Very smart people who are, naturally, competitive. But that competitiveness doesn't get in the way of what has become a close-knit family.
    Comes from classic tech/advertising start-up roots and still maintains much of that feel within its offices

    Pros

    The compensation was fair to good.

    Cons

    The place is permeated with a culture of fear. Management plays games to dodge the regulators and no one seems to have their eye on the big picture of who the bank is supporting and endorsing and what those clients are doing. There is no moral or ethical backbone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Engage in communication with your staff, and institute a zero tolerance policy regarding loud public verbal abuse of staff by senior members - or by anyone!

    Pros

    Coworkers and clients. Assistant Branch Managers were great for the CSR's.

    Cons

    Horrible experience with branch manager. Favouritism was blatant. High pressure sales and numbers to meet. Not necessarily what was best for the clients.

    I found the people I worked with, i.e., my co-workers, to have high caliber moral and integrity. During the time I worked there - it was like a familial relationship.

    Lack of presence in the US. CIBC is largely a Canadian company and their US presence is minimal.
