CIBC invests in their employee's through internal and external training. The organizations Involvement in charitable organizations is admirable.

    Cons

More investment to ensure that there is adequate training for those individuals that have people reporting to them to learn the dynamics and what is required to support your team when you have folks that report directly to you.

    Advice to Management

Provide work autonomy and let your folks take credit for successes that they have directly impacted.

    Pros

Very strong architecture team, very mature processes, plenty of interesting work happening then, ability to influence, good pay

    Cons

Similar to every bank - red tape, projects tend to get diet delayed heavily due to the stringent need to follow the processes

    Advice to Management

Become innovative, become agile - the cost of having to follow processes is sometimes twice the cost of the project if it was completed otherwise

    Pros

Good learning experience in honing your people skills. Depending on the specific branch you work at, you may need to excel in booking appointments to bring in business over the phone. Not exactly cold calling but similar.

    Cons

Sales pressure can be high if you can't follow up with the targets. There are sales meetings every week.

    Advice to Management

Managers can become more involved in helping the sales peol

    Pros

Great place to learn and grow until you reach a certain level. Good people and culture if you fit in with them.

    Cons

The performance scale is incredibly biased and exceeds one year is meet the next just to prevent better increases and promotions due to budget constraints from above. Managers don't know what you do and don't properly manage talent thus leaving high performers under utilized.

    Advice to Management

Know what your employees do, don't be so focused on deadline targets that you cannot foster growth and a positive mindset which will pay many more dividends for the organization down the road.

    Pros

    Benefits
Decent pay (38k to start) + quarterly bonuses
Location (Yonge/Finch in Toronto very central)
    Competitive (sales)

    Cons

    No work/life balance
    Favouritism
5pm-1am shift is the worse; public transportation at this time is slow and very inconvenient

    Advice to Management

While I understand you're highly sales driven and have introduced a practical client experience model, targets are set in a way that makes it difficult to take a well-rounded approach. It's either you're really good at selling or really good at customer service. Side note: You need to take a greater stance on employees who speak languages other than English or French on the floor. It's extremely rude in a professional environment.
