Pros
Great exposure to different work experiences. Flexible hours and remote working is common
Work life balance is promoted
Cons
No equal opportunities for every employee. People in special program have better chance of rotation and promotion. Open position are posted but a candidate already chosen.
High turnover.
Advice to Senior Management
Equal chance for everyone!
Pros
pay was good for starting, lots of interaction with people and clients, excellent facilities and equipment, excellent training and oppurtunity for overtime
Cons
health benefits were lackluster - you work for an insurance company and get the bottom rung plan, career advancement is slim, management is self-interested and mildly unprofessional
Advice to Senior Management
offer a better employee health plan, management could use some training on treating employees with more respect, both internally and intradepartmentally
Pros
Mon to Friday, decent pay,
Cons
It's basically who you know
Advice to Senior Management
Grow some (insert plural noun)
Pros
Excellent compensation package...better than peers
Cons
Difficult to get promotions; Sometimes employees are overworked.
Advice to Senior Management
Plan well so employees do not have to overwork
Pros
Market leading large insurance company with broad array of jobs.
Current technology, excellent colleagues, and reasonably progressive vision.
Cons
Average management, average but declining compensation compared with competing companies, increasingly corporate in approach
Advice to Senior Management
Harness the good ideas of many of your leadership team, not just the chosen few
Pros
Some groups are good. Most not so much. Nice Gym.
Cons
slow, bureaucratic company, rife with mediocrity. Complete lack of IT vision and leadership. Most vision is simply talk with no action to back it up.
Advice to Senior Management
recognize the deadwood and find ways to create a high performance org with fewer but better people.
Pros
If personal time is needed, they are very accomodating. While they care about their employees when issues arise or family situations present themselves, they do little to prevent things from happening to begin with. They do give recognition, but only if you play the political game, and think everything is fine (no issues).
Cons
Highly political with borderline incompetent mid-level and senior leadership in certain areas. Constantly in fire-fighting mode, never addressing root cause nor solving the larger issue. Most senior leaders do not think things through, and when issues arise, they still move forward without correcting the main issue, which maks things work. Tons of rework, lost work, restarting, and poor risk managemen.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to say no or think things through prior to setting dates and scope. Try to not make bad assumptions. Look at root cause.
Pros
1) Learning.
2) Growth Opportunities.
3) Support from Management.
4) Professionalism
5) Team work
Cons
Salaries might be slightly lower than what competitors offer.
Advice to Senior Management
Good work, keep it up!
Pros
Opportunities for Growth
Good Managers
Flexible Schedules
Cons
Volatility of the market affects company/positions.
Pros
The big picture of the company is great, incentives for healthy living, and discounts on many vendors such as cell-phones contracts, daycares, and gyms (etc). Many chances for assisting the community, and donating production time to help local charities. The CEO seems very sincere in his hopes to better the company and the welfares of the employees, as well as their members.
Cons
Communication is lacking. The rating system is disheartening, an employee can receive a neutral/negative rating despite a year of hard, dedicated work just because their manager has to have a certain amount of employees in a particular rating. Favoritism is a constant, and the need to point fingers at anyone other then the responsible party is common practice.
Advice to Senior Management
Please realize that the current rating system is not only unfair to the employees, but to the company as well. If a good employee gets a negative or neutral rating, they do not receive a raise the following year. Many employees have not received raises in YEARS because of this rating system. This company will continue to lose valuable employees until this changes.
