Pros
It has a good brand name and it is always nice to work in an Investment Bank. It is also has strong help from political leaders due to the relationship between the CEO and the prime minister.
Cons
It does not really know how to treat young fresh graduates and believe in their capabilities. The managers give all the dirty work to new graduates.
Pros
The performance bonuses are substantial if you hit yr targets.
Cons
Employees are made to be competitive by being positioned to compete against one another. This creates a hostile atmosphere that does not encourage cooperation. Base salaries tend to be low; the supporting argument for this is that performance bonuses will make up for it (if you hit yr targets).
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage cooperation by allowing profits to be shared more evenly among departments/divisions/desks/employees.
Pros
Good and I learnt a lot from the experiences shared by my seniors and management; a caring environment to work in.
Cons
Though the compensation is not as well-rounded by other banks in the industry because I understand that the industry is not performing well at this period of time; nonetheless the company is a good one to work in.
Advice to Senior Management
Good and keep up the good work and thanks for making our workplace a wonderful place. Very much appreciated. Continue to improvise.
Pros
Great working conditions and helpful management. Great team building and friendly environment in order to build yourself professionally and the such.
Cons
Busy hours (but what job does not have this?). Overall a great place to intern in and learn from the superiors.
Advice to Senior Management
There is an overall good effort by management and other staffs during my internship period. Not much to say. Good experience.
Pros
flexible working hours, u r responsible for yourself
Cons
Horrible politics in the office. Poor IT support
Advice to Senior Management
Dont save cost at where you are supposed to outperform others
Pros
it a big company in malaysia
Cons
difficult to get career advancement
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
- Strong growth within SEA region
- Transfer opportunities between regional offices
- Reputable in Malaysia
Cons
- Disconnect between regional offices / to some extent between senior and middle management
- territorial, conservative culture
- Tend to be Malaysian centric
Advice to Senior Management
Draw upon the ambition of the younger talent pool to tap ORGANIC growth. Reward enterprising talents, give them mandate (take risks in human capital!) . Watch out for negative cultures/relationship between HQ and regional offices at all levels.
Pros
Good deal flows, has a certain prestige having it in the CV
Cons
long working hours, base pay is lower than average but compensated in terms of bonus which is descretionary
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to employee's needs
Pros
It is a growing company and it is a branded company to work with among the ASEAN region.
Cons
CIMB Bank really expects you to work over time, whether you like it or not, it is the culture of working in CIMB. Although most of the higher managements "agree" that you could go home at a reasonable time, i.e. 9pm, they will question you when you take off before 9pm. As a result, it will affect your" ownership" at your work. CIMB Investment gets recognition of their work through their annual bonus, whereas the CIMB Bank do not received the same recognition with the same effort in their work through their annual bonus. Quite unfair at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Attention to all the Grade 39 and above senior management level, don't just use your power and show your power to demand your staffs to do your job. Be more systematic and do it together with the team, show some efforts to appreciate the team. The team will be loyal to you and appreciate you in return, therefore, you could at least prevent a high turnover rate in the department/company.
Pros
One of the largest banks in the country, very aggresive vision to be South East Asia's most valued universal bank.
Cons
Too many entities within the Group. Policies differ between entities. Salary, benefits and bonus will depend on entity you're employed with.
Advice to Senior Management
Be fair in employee compensation. Salaries and remuneration varies within the different entities. This will cause dissatisfaction and lower employee morale.
