Excellent reputation with customers and partners
    Uniquely positioned in the market
    Significant competitive advantage
Employees are empowered to make significant impact to the business and shape the company
    Profitable, growing, financially strong

    Cons

Employee benefits are a little weak, but likely to improve in the future as HR functions mature
With high-growth comes a lot of reactive, fire-fighting
Building processes and developing employees while running at 110% throttle is a tricky balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to build and trust your team
Don't be afraid to delegate decision authority
Articulate your strategic development plans and vision so that the team can see beyond the day-to-day trench warfare and contribute to the long term plan

I worked at CIS Secure Computing full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This company has so much potential to be long term successfully. They are constantly innovating new ideas and cultivating new products that consistently surpass the industry's competition. This company makes things that would take other companies' greatest minds years to figure out. The output of this company truly is remarkable.

    Cons

They do not listen to the needs of the employees that they currently have. Pay scales across the board are at an industry low by comparison to other companies. This company sells products that go for in upwards of 30,000 dollars but most of the employees there in product make less than 11 dollars and hour. Share the wealth and your success will more than triple.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please reconsider your ways of overbearing micro-management, it truly does affect your employees, they are good people who work very hard to make CIS what it is.

    Pros

Pretty much only company in the industry who offers decent products with relatively cheaper prices and bring many contracts to the company.

    Cons

There are so many and I can't even know where to start. They don't know how to treat their employees. They don't have any set policies and standards and change those rules whenever is necessary and good to the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share your success with your employees because without them, you wouldn't be this big.

I worked at CIS Secure Computing

    Pros

CIS has huge potential in a small niche market. The leadership understands the marketplace, the engineering staff continuously thinks outside the box, there are good employees willing to get the job done.

    Cons

Management refuses to slow down long enough to integrate processes and procedures which over the long haul will take this company to the next level. Even when they do recognize the need for these procedures and policies, they refuse to delegate the authority to those they put in charge to carry them out. This isn't working short term and it won't get better with time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Delegate. Create a vision, communicate the vision, identify key personnel to carry out the vision, delegate to them the authority to carry of the vision, hold them accountable to the vision, praise their successful performance. A solid company is built on adherence to policies and processes. People come and go but performance will remain the same as long as the policies and processes don't come and go as well.

I have been working at CIS Secure Computing

    Pros

This company has continued to grow despite the bad economy. For a US manufacturer, that's saying something. The management team is very creative and looks out for its good people.

    Cons

It can be a fast paced environment at times with a lot of pressure. The company is slow to get rid of the deadbeat employees, and as a small company, that can undermine morale. Any place you work, there are always whiners. I wish they would fire them faster because it is a good place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is obviously doing something right to have grown so much in the last 4 or 5 years. Management needs to put a little more effort into employee communication.

I have been working at CIS Secure Computing

    Pros

Very diverse product offerings. Impressive growth and job stability for a US manufacturer. Reasonable expectations from employees and opportunity for highly motivated people. New things happening all the time and many good people.

    Cons

All companies have issues, but most of this company's are primarily growing pain related. Management appears to be getting their arms around the growth, though. Always room for improvement at any company, though. A few rotten apples like anywhere else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company needs to spend a bit more time on developing a corporate culture, otherwise, whiny employees will continue to pollute the atmosphere.

A company with lots of potential placated with poor communication and bad management.

I have been working at CIS Secure Computing

    Pros

The opportunity to interact with emerging technology, some very pricey. Liberal leave policy; where little advance notification is required before taking (within reason).

    Cons

Lack of communication. Nepotism. Lack of appreciation for employees. Very limited opportunity for growth. Low pay comparative to industry competitors. Very little time between product development, testing and market ready product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

According to most employees, the consensus is that of the non-adherence to the policy of not hiring Family members or close relatives. This has created problems of conflict of interest and discipline, and a lack of trust. Management needs to respect and listen to employees concerns.
