    Pros

Great benefits and Vacation/sick time. Great people, fun environment. lots of autonomy in certain roles. HR people are helpful and friendly. Leadership tries hard to remain connected to staff.

    Cons

Social services agencies all suffer the same, they lack the cash to hire outside so they promote people from within, occasionally resulting in people moving into jobs they're not qualified for.

Lame Ducks in Upper & Middle Management. Great Worker Bees.

    Pros

Working at Horwich, the worker bees are terrific! I've made life-long friends! Work is as good as you make it.

    Cons

Senior and middle management are mediocre at best, and won't move out to make room for better talent. Critical thinking is resented. Fosters and enables the bullies.

    Advice to Management

Clean house of Senior and Middle Management. You'll never progress with current management as it stands. Research a candidates qualifications before your hire.

Not a good job for people uncomfortable with the elderly.

    Advice to Management

Distribute responsibilities more evenly amongst employees

    Pros

the best part is working with the residents/clients. they have so much to share and teach. they remind me how precious life is.

    Cons

it is obviously difficult to watch people you care about get sick and die. this is the toughest part of the job.

    Advice to Management

more open communication between staff and management would be appreciated and would go a long way to boost employee morale.

    Pros

they are around if you need them

    Cons

Once you talk with them they don't do anything about a big problem situation.

    Advice to Management

You as well as HR need to listen to complaints and take them seriously. Then you actually need to act on them. To have a manager who causes so much trouble, causes people to leave the agency and to do nothing about it is wrong on so many levels.
