Pros
- I have to note that the comments below were made between 2008 and 2010 at the height of the Recession! Things weren't easy for anyone running a business and cut backs had to be made across all business including Cpl. I don't know anyone in Ireland who wasn't affected.
- After joining Cpl, I had great times and tough times (mainly due to the recession).
- Cpl is and always have been highly focused on staff training and development (this always has
been there, which is why the below comments are suprising to me.)
- Entrepreneurship mentality - some people are just born to work in recruitment and others are not.
- Excellent internal communication.
- Great staff education programmes .
- Lots on the social side.
- Opportunity to progress.
- Packages in place for the right people, if it isn't happening for you you will know quickly that
Recruiting is not the job for you.
- A great, dynamic and challenging place to work.
Cons
Let's face it Recruitment is a tough business and not many people are cut out for this line of work -sales calls, achieving targets, tracking, business development, client management, and so on.
All of our new recruitment staff are placed through rigorous interviewing procedures and are fully aware of the difficulties that recruiting involves.
Salaries: Low base salary with training allowance. Commission is added onto this. All new employees are aware that they need to reach a target and make things happen.

Pros
Its a fairly good environment. Some desks are better than others. promotions and carrer path are well organized. Its an average company.
Cons
Salaries could be a bit higher. Thats all that could be said. One more thing. some desk appears to have people placed in advance for promotion and nothing much could be done.
Advice to Senior Management
They should not let small groups of people doing whatever they want on some desks. CPL should remain in control of the teams
Pros
It's very easy to get a job even if you have no technical experience or qualifications at all.
This might be interesting if you are a student looking for a summer job or for someone wanting to live and work in Ireland for a short while.
Some out of hours activities are organized which are nice to socialize as the company employ many young people of various nationalities.
Cons
Overall I would strongly urge staying away from this company.
The atmosphere is very amateuristic. Even though you are supposed to help customers with technical problems, nobody working there has any sound technical background (often no education at all) you can ask for assistance and there is absolutely no investment in the employees to try and improve this. The so-called 'CPL career ladder' is really a joke.
Quantity matters more than quality as the company earns its money based on the number of cases logged and calls answered within the time limit (SLA is all that matters).
The package is terrible: sick days unpaid, no health care, very bad pay (has even been lowered at the moment for new hires). Also, if you plan to leave and announce this just before the bonus is paid, they will just not give you any bonus at all for the last six months of work.
The company is often dishonest, e.g. during the interview they claimed the maximum yearly bonus was more than double of what it actually is. They also show no respect for their employees e.g. one day without any warning just canceling transportation arrangements for those that have to start working too early to be able to come by bus.
Almost no one stays there for more than a year and out of all the people working there, only very few actually enjoy working there.
If you are serious about your career, CPL is really not the company to work for.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees as grown-ups and invest in them with proper training
Pros
if you don't have any IT qualifiactions and you want to gain experience in technical support. also, the people are generally quite nice and laid back (depending what desk you're working on). its a nice job to have if ur taking a year out in between college or whatever.
Cons
the pay is terrible and its not unionised, as employee empowerment is a threat to their business.. they are an outsourcing company so they primarily rely on taking a percentage of what their client company pays to their staff.. if unions got involved that would be a serious problem because they would probably loose their outsourcing contracts as they would have less control over staff
Advice to Senior Management
pay staff more, give better training, be more honest and transparent with staff
