    Pros

The benefits were decent, but what really made this a great place was the project staff and a handful of really awesome managers. Most, if not all, of them are now gone, however. Pay was actually fairly competitive, though not the best I have seen.

    Cons

Unfortunately, many of the contracts were mishandled and subsequently lost by upper management, causing this company to layoff about 200 of its 250 employees. What is left is a mere shell of the company. The President, VP, and numerous other high-level personnel were either let go or resigned. This is a company struggling with its identity, fighting a losing battle to become what it once was.

    Pros

Quick hiring decision, competitive pay and contracts were not inhibited by HQ in terms of work for the client. Excellent software and resources available to the contract in order to do the work needed for the contract. Also the benefits were very good.

    Cons

Anyone not management is expendable for supervisors have an agenda. Management tolerated and or enabled harassment and unprofessional behavior at the workplace. Their Inability to properly manage a contract can result in budget cuts and or loss of employment.

    Advice to Management

Inner communications need to increase, stop tolerating office politics and work on your employee relations and ensure contract managers do the same. Help employees to feel that they matter and not they are the cogs in the machine.

    I worked at CRA

    Pros

CRA/LA was a great place to work to understand the multitude of sectors involved in redevelopment. Due to the large staff size, you find a variety of skill sets, disciplines and ideas.

    Cons

Due to the size of the CRA, it was sometimes difficult to get ideas acted upon because of the buy in necessary from all the different departments.

    Pros

It's a paying job. Relatively hands-off and allows the owner of the contract to do most of the management.

    Cons

Poor communication if you don't work at HQ. The contract I was on had NO sick leave. You had to use vacation days if you got sick, and if you ran out, LWOP was not often approved.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees or don't hire them in the first place.

    Pros

    Great work/life balance, flexible hours

    Cons

It takes a long time to advance in your career - you can spend years in a job pool, only to have it expire. You then have to re-take all tests and hope to get a higher level placement.

    Advice to Management

Provide better change management - especially that related to technological changes. Back your staff on such issues rather than appeasing those resistant to change and causing barriers/obstacles.
