    Pros

-Like the title says: the company has an amazing working atmosphere. Working in an open-plan kind of office really helps to bring people together.
-Really strong set of values which the management tries to pass on to their employees.
-Socially speaking, no one is above anyone else. Everyone gets treated the same way and the manner in which you talk to the CEO is exactly the same in which you talk to an intern.
-Opportunity to work on very different projects. From railways to online fashion retailers.
-Management listens. You are encouraged to talk to them and speak your mind.
-You can make your own schedule (as long as it doesn't conflict with your team or your meetings). Want to start working at 4pm and leave at midnight? You're free to do so.
-Results matter more than spending 8-9h in the office.
-Generally speaking, everyone is extremely friendly and is always available to give you a helping hand.

    Cons

-The salary is almost offensive in some cases - it's extremely low. This overshadows many of the Pros written above.
-Compensation and benefits exist but they aren't that great.
-Some egos in the senior management area are really though to deal and not only it affects the employees but also the company as a whole.

    Advice to Management

Overall, you're doing a good job, but the company needs to realize the potential and value of its employees and start offering better salaries and benefits, otherwise people will keep doing what they're doing: leaving for the competition.

    Pros

Good environment, and depending of the area/project you have excellent people to work with.
New projects in the java area are usually challenging and we have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies. We can work at home when needed. Flexible work hours. Good work autonomy.

    Cons

Salary is below average! Benefits package could be better. The lack of new projects (at the time of this review). Lack of opportunities to grow inside the company. It is a bit hard to move in the hierarchy even if you do a good job

    Advice to Management

We see lots of new people entering the company and some good workers, with proven value, leaving the company. This should be balanced. Give more opportunities to people that are already in the company and promote then when looking to fill new positions.

    Pros

    - really great projects, international opportunities
    - lots of autonomy
    - technology savvy company (the only reason for not be using the latest technologies are due to customer demands rather than a technical decision from the team leaders)

    Cons

    - below average salary if you are a junior, it gets better as you move but can take a while
    - missing in-office perks and more team building activities (projects are very isolated)
    - senior people are usually dragged in multiple directions (and they should be concentrated in engineering)

    Advice to Management

Beware of current HR policy, teams are talented but usually more junior than senior, be much more demanding with non-performing members and avoid pulling people in multiple directions

    Pros

Working at Critical provides me constant challenges and gives me the motivation to want to do more.
The great technical skills of its employees and the high quality practices makes me proud of the end result of every project I worked in!

    Cons

The fact that Critical is still a "family" company makes it sometimes hard to disconnect! This means that it's had to stop working and sometimes you feel you don't have enough time for everything else! The problem is you don't even realize it because you're so involved in the company!!

    Advice to Management

Make the company more modern. Make apps to share information about the company, its people and initiatives. improve marketing and branding!

    Pros

Solid quality and engineering practices. Mature project management. Conservative top management adverse to foolish risk-taking. Easy to talk with anyone in the company. Flexible hours, which can be a pro but also a con. Nice offices (at least Porto and Coimbra).

    Cons

Below average salaries and compensations. Training session quality and frequency could be improved. Not very innovative and even old-fashioned in many technological aspects, partially due to the conservative markets where it operates.

    Advice to Management

Look at what the competition is doing to retain their most talented individuals in terms of benefits, in-office perks, and general work environment.

Big expectations and a BIG disappointment. In a CMMI 5 company the service provided to the client is one of the worst.
