Tough to make ends meat worked there for less than a year

    OTR Truck Driver (Former Employee)
    Cedar Rapids, IA

ProsFleet manager was great had me a load days in advance

ConsNight dispatch would steal my loads for other drivers and weekend managers did same.
Safety is a joke, I let them know my brakes were making noise and beginning to fail. They told me over qual comm that this was normal for winter driving. I was in in West Virginia and the temperature was 91 in September.
My trainer made me sleep on top bunk while he drove.
Made 400 take home pay a week.
As a company driver you WILL get everyone's left over loads.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire all night and weekend managers. They are not thinking of companies best interest they do what they want when they want. And like I said my regular fleet manger was great but if I did not switch loads while he was working my load would always 100% be changed or rerouted.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

You will earn just enough to eat.

    Driver (Former Employee)
    Riverside, CA

    ProsNewer to new trucks.
    Newer to new trucks.
Trucks that are 3 years old or less.
    New to newer trucks.

ConsThey don't care if the refrigerator works, you won't get enough miles, you'll get home and find out they've been charging you $30.00-$40.00 more than you thought for those advances you had to take to pay for Scaling and eating.
You'll figure out you're just a number there very quickly.
You won't make enough money to pay your bills, buy new clothes, see a dentist.
They won't pay you for the first 48 hours of a layover or breakdown.
    Very LOW WAGES, NO MILES!
You need to keep looking for a new Co-Driver because everyone quits because no one can live on the money they earn.
Everyone needs to borrow money to stay on the job.
The only people who make a living wage there are the trainers and management.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your drivers a living wage.
Repair the refrigerators when they breakdown!

    company not to work for

    OTR Truck Driver (Former Employee)

Prosif you like to spend your time at truck stops waiting for a 20 year old kid to figure out how to dispatch then this is the place for you.

Consdispatchers that cant freight planers that don't and customer service oversees this mess. they will let you sit 72 hours for a load rather then change a fail preplan. unbelievable considering how many units they have.

Advice to Senior Managementkeep doing what you are doing and you will run out of good drivers and will be left with trainees who will kill, destroy and smash it to bits.

They did nothing but lie to me and my co driver

    OTR Truck Driver (Former Employee)
    Cedar Rapids, IA

ProsYou can be paid 2x per week

ConsThey lie to their people. They say they will get you home on the day you want. Then you get home 3 days later. The list is to long to list everything, so I just did this one.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your head out of your collective asses

    CRST

    Fleet Manager (Former Employee)
    Cedar Rapids, IA

ProsGreat first place to start. If you make it through a year and like what you do. You will appreciate the hell you went through, one you onboard with a good company

Consmicro management, no opportunity to learn, volume of phone calls, safety of driver employees

Advice to Senior ManagementRaise your rates, pay your drivers. Let them go home. Pay for sleep studies.

    Horrible company

    Truck Driver (Current Employee)

ProsThis company really does not have any pros.

ConsThe company does not value the employees, like they should. They promise to pay the drives well and in all reality they keep the money. I have been working for this company for months and I have only put $900 in my pocket. This is not a good company to work for.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe management really needs to treat their drivers with respect and understand that drivers need money to eat!

    Company driver

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe Twenty/Ten Program and the miles.

ConsTerrible communication; the driver can easily be misled with pay expectations.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake care to make certain the driver is compensated as communicated that he may concentrate on safe-driving and on-time pick-ups and deliveries-- not the twenty dollars of due reimbursement; also, communicate clearly any instruction, direction, expectation, or resolution.
