I worked at CRST Expedited full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great first place to start. If you make it through a year and like what you do. You will appreciate the hell you went through, one you onboard with a good company

    Cons

micro management, no opportunity to learn, volume of phone calls, safety of driver employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise your rates, pay your drivers. Let them go home. Pay for sleep studies.

I have been working at CRST Expedited full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This company really does not have any pros.

    Cons

The company does not value the employees, like they should. They promise to pay the drives well and in all reality they keep the money. I have been working for this company for months and I have only put $900 in my pocket. This is not a good company to work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management really needs to treat their drivers with respect and understand that drivers need money to eat!

    Company driver

I have been working at CRST Expedited

    Pros

The Twenty/Ten Program and the miles.

    Cons

Terrible communication; the driver can easily be misled with pay expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care to make certain the driver is compensated as communicated that he may concentrate on safe-driving and on-time pick-ups and deliveries-- not the twenty dollars of due reimbursement; also, communicate clearly any instruction, direction, expectation, or resolution.

I worked at CRST Expedited as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Its great for the owner operator...it isnt for the drivers...its a place to start but there are far better places to receive training.

    Cons

Low pay, you have to monitor and record everything (miles, pay number, you are not paid on time, answers are hard to come by, your stuck in a contract as a student paying double for already government funded opportunity, worst training available, your trainer only requires 6 months experience to train you if they have winter driving which is only a pro for the trainer dangerous for you, dispatch is not always out to help you. This company has mulitiple law suits so its going to cheat you to be able to stay open. Money is made mostly from contracts and cheating people not good drivers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more fleet managers, have weekly meeting on how to improve yourselves, take responsibility, admit when there is something wrong and work to fix it instead of cover it up.

I have been working at CRST Expedited full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Good miles
    Good equipment
    Good Fleet managers
If your 100% dedicated to the job..you wont have a problem.....its like this..

If your not driving your not making money
if your not making money...the fleet managers arent either.
if your reliable and ontime...the fleet managers will assign you more jobs

    Cons

school they use for student training sucks....unless you really wanna be a trucker..your never gonna pass your test.Basically its a 4 week course cramped into 2 weeks.
I only got 4 hours driving time in school.....not much more on pre trip....and hardly anything on alley docking and backing....
Some trainers are terrible.....but if your not happy..well make sure u get a load thats going near one of the terminals...Fontana,CA,Oklahoma City,OK,Cedar Rapids,IA or Carlisle,PA....then request a new lead driver....Once you get a decent trainer..loisten to what he's trying to teach you...doesnt matter if u 'think u kno it all' or not...he s just trying to help you

I worked at CRST Expedited full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The only pro I can think of is they give you an oppurtunity to see the worst of how to treat truck drivers

    Cons

The dispatchers are rude, the safety rating is one of the worst in the industry, causing them to not be able to acquire pre-pass. This equates to more time in scales, more inspections and having to maintain cash to pay tolls instead of flowing through wiegh stations and toll booths. The pay is horrendous, you start at .23 and make it to 31 after a year, then it goes up even slower.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show some sort of concern for drivers and thier well being.

I worked at CRST Expedited full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Paid transportation to orientation.
Getting paid to see the country.

    Cons

Supervisors don't know what they are doing.
Supervisors are hypocrites. We were told, that if we were tired , to pull over and rest for a while. On one of my trips I wanted to do that and was told not to, that I had to keep going. The home time is a joke. My partner and I were always held up for a day or two when we wanted to go home. We had 4 different supervisors in 2 1/2 months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Smarten up. A lot of people don't want to work for your company. I was told that by many people.
