    Still trying to find itself

Managing Director (Current Employee) Stamford, CT

ProsLean structure and transparent comp structure enable producers to eat what they kill. Decent payouts. Generally intelligent colleauges.

ConsA cultural mess. The firm changes strategy and focus with each calendar year. Lack of profits and private equity ownership are a toxic combo. High senior management turnover is destabilizing as well. New push into equities is sputtering because of turmoil.

Advice to Senior ManagementDecide what you want to be, determine what best practices should be and then have the patience to execute on the plan. New CEO seems ill-suited to his role. He simply does not have the breadth of experience nor the force of personality to establish, articulate and execute on a viable strategy.

    Meh

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsInformal managerial style. Managers are frequently outside their offices among everyone else on the floor

ConsJoined CRT to get away from the politics and cronyism of larger firms but sad to see it's still very much a part of the environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to do a better job of communicating the direction and goals moving forward otherwise it's just status quo and that's not good enough

    sick puppy

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood chicks. Free beer on Fridays. Good retirement house by the ocean.

ConsStinks of nepotism. Work here if you're from Greenwich Capital.
Company consists mostly of old farts who have failed to keep up with new ideas. It is only a matter of time before this one goes bankrupt. Rumored to be on the buyout list of other companies (that themselves cannot grow organically and needs to take out competitors). But no one will buy this sick puppy.

Avoid like the plague. You'll never get a bonus.

Advice to Senior ManagementReturn investor money (or whatever is left of it). You define highway robbery.

    Great place to work

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Stamford, CT

ProsI enjoyed my work at CRT and it was exciting working at a place that has so much ongoing growth.

ConsI would have preferred to work in the city but it ended up being nice to get out of the commotion during the day in Stamford.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would focus on growing the benefit package further in order to compete with firms in the city to recruit better talent.

    don't know what goes here

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Stamford, CT

Prospay was competitive with the street until they lost a boat load prop trading. lots of very talented individuals to learn from.

Consthe managers always seemed to paint a very rosy picture of how well the business was doing but they apparently were ill prepared for the crisis.

Advice to Senior Managementthere is a new management team in place now and the business has since been recapitalized so it's hard to say

Not that great of a place

    Associate (Former Employee) Stamford, CT

ProsIt is not located in New York City and the commute from Connecticut is very easy no matter where you live.

ConsSenior management did not appear to run the business very well. In fact, they nearly caused a liquidation in 2008.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior management led by two partners did not manage the business in a proper manner and when times were not great, so long to your accrued comp.

    Entrepenurial, Fair

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Stamford, CT

ProsCRT has a creative team, they're mutually supportive, anyone has the opportunity to carve a role for themselves and succeed if they're able to.

ConsManagement communicates poorly with employees, commits few resources to new efforts, has high employee turnover resulting from a steady decline in payout ratios over time.

Advice to Senior ManagementEqualize management incentives and payouts with those employee incentives through a fairly designed profit sharing program. Communicate more openly with employees.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
