Pros
Remote working is possible, but sometimes need to be in datacenter
Cons
Travel is required if you want year around job
Advice to Senior Management
Make training more structured
Pros
Public sector side can be more dynamic than job-shop typical of contracting.
Cons
Policies are not geared for work-family balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to conduct training for managers to ensure the company hires and promotes based on demonstrated abilities, not resumes and network.
Pros
Work Life Balance / Good support from team members and management
Cons
Salary doesnt match the market
Advice to Senior Management
No Comment
Pros
401 k match is fair at 65, BUT NO PENSION ANYMORE
Cons
no salary/promotion transparency JUST PROMISES THAT NEVER COME THROUGH
Advice to Senior Management
take care of your employees financialy before you take your bonuses
Pros
Good Pay.
Good Benefits
Job Security.
If you're a senior employee, this may be a great place for you. They take a lot of focus on how many years experience you have rather than your ability to do the work.
Cons
Management doesn't care about career growth.
Potential is not recognized.
Management happy as long as work is getting done, not worried about the QUALITY of work.
Don't ever start a career here. It's great if you've established your knowledge base and know what you want to do, but fresh out of college they are very limited in their opportunities for career advancement. If you happen to do well in a position (regardless of the lack of challenge to you) they will keep you there for the simple fact that they don't have to do the paperwork to find a replacement.
Advice to Senior Management
Care about your employees growth potential. Stop feeding into those about to retire and start focusing on those thirsty for knowledge.
Pros
was offered a competitive salary while joining CSC
Cons
CSC should not have hired people unless they are sure they have projects. Many of my colleagues have been asked to leave the organisation, stating the same reason.
Very strict on maintaining 9.5 hours. They deducted my salary for 15 days because I did not maintain the required hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Please dont hire people unless they are actually required and jeopardise their career!
Pros
Good co workers who really cared about taking care of the clients
Cons
terrible at employee mentoring
inconsistent policies on promotions
no desire for long term satisfaction for consultants
only as good as the last quarterly results
in downturns, consultants were quickly fired with no recognition of long term value
Advice to Senior Management
treat employees with respect and they will reward you
quit the cycle of layoff and then hire like crazy every other year
Pros
The best thing so far about working at CSC are the work hours. Granted, I got hired around April 2011. So I don't have a lot of work right now.
Cons
The organization and managment. My first day at work, they have not set up my account, my computer, ..nothing. The whole company where I work at feel very disorganized. The managers are friendly when you speak to them, but they give of this vibe of 'everyone for themself.' Maybe this is just at the facility where i work it.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more organize.
Pros
Easy to work for when you are utilized
Good people at the staff level.
Very technical mindset.
Cons
Cheap Company working toward being sold.
Terrible management and empowered paper pushers.
Terrible expenses policies and management. End up not paying travel expenses because of disconnect between practice-level management and administrative VPs.
Appraisal process is a joke. Bonuses are driven by corporate statistics.
Complete disconnect between Business Units and consulting practices. Lazy BDMs.
Advice to Senior Management
Fire all the paper pushers and put a real strategic plan in place.
Pros
Work from home option; retirement
Cons
Poor Middle Managers and Sr. Managers. Favortism is apparent there and lack of fairness among all employees. Little recognition for employees that do a good job; the worst Employee Relations in a Company; they only do what management tells them and they are not there to be supportive of the employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Look at what you do that could cause liability for this company and treat all employees with dignity and fairness. Look at your HR Directors and stop bringing old employees back 3 or 4 times that are not loyal to the company!
