Pros
Its good for learning how to work in a place with limited resources and learning what not to.
Cons
Mgmt lacks communication, most of your work will be have to be done with urgency. Emphasis on bottom line.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage your employees. Answer the hard questions from employees. Train your employees well or provide incentive to work harder.
Pros
Relaxed work atmosphere, good study support (in the form of training time given), supportive line managers, fantastic co-workers. Flexi-time is a possibility.
Cons
Benefit package and salary is perhaps not inline with the rest of the industry. Upper management does not always communicate well with the staff.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be beneficial for the company to improve the communication between upper management and the rest of the staff.
Pros
- Job security
- Have time for family
- Don't contact with various type of people
Cons
- Low communication skills
- Low salary in longterm
Pros
good salary with good environment
Cons
boring and the big company but slow to change
Advice to Senior Management
more salary
Pros
a lot of good projects to work on
Cons
average pay package, no overtime pay
Advice to Senior Management
CSC needs to find a buyer, it is still not a top-tier consulting firm and needs some help to grow its business.
Pros
Stable contracts and opportunities to try new things. Managers were always open to employees shifting contracts within the company to build skills and experiance. Formal training was harder to get. Pay is good for early/mid career but is not competitive for higher level skillsets. PMs were (generally) trained and supported to manage relationships with customers very proffesionally. This protects technical employees from most of the craziness that can happen on a bad contract. Most managers were very supportive of work/life balance issues.
Cons
HR is almost useless for EEO issues. Their only purpose is to provide plausible deniability. They are not interested in dialog to straighten out problems and educate the offender. They will simply move the complainer to other work and let the offender continue unabated.
Advice to Senior Management
EEO issues are not over in the workplace, just because everyone seems so nice. They still happen and they need to be dealt with straight one. Also, CSC needs to work on payscales for senior technical expertise. Otherwise, they will find themselves out of the market in Cybersecurity.
Pros
There is flexibility in job movement if you are willing to relocate. Good benefits, work hours can be flexible depending on what position you hold. Ability to work remotely is available in some positions.
Cons
It is sometimes hard to stay connected with management if you work remotely. It is also harder to have visibility with senior management and to get promoted into senior positions.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees. They are the heart beat of the company.
Pros
Many different clients offers a wide range of industries
Cons
Little or no training
work with a minimum staff
Advice to Senior Management
hire more people to support the workload
Pros
They can pay you. I do enjoy fixing peoples problems and we had tools to do so. They did allow me to use my sick time and vacation when I needed it. I did receive some praise from the projects I developed from immediate management until they were replaced when new management came in (see below)
Cons
Senior Management does not listen to reason. Had ideas for several projects and way to improve efficiency that were flatly rejected or not encouraged. Very little in the way of raises. Bottom line over customer service and employee sanity. The one factor in all of this is the company I worked for was bought out by CSC when I got hired. We were treated like a red headed step child and when they did finally decide to be involved in our lives they tried to fit us into their mold which did not work. I dont know how the CEO Mike Laphen is even involved with us since we probably dont even show up on his radar. Corporation is too big and has lost its soul. The tools they gave us to use were antiquated and broken half the time. We did not have enough people to cover the work they gave us. Were encouraged to do more with less.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to ideas from employees and encourage innovation. Encourage those who innovate with proper pay. Hire enough people to cover the work and to provide customer service that will keep clients happy.
Pros
CSC employees garner a lot of respect because of their excellent reputation. I am pleased with their flexibility when it comes to needing time off.
Cons
I have to work shift-work and that was not explained to me before joining the CSC team. Because of poor timing, I will not receive a semi-annual review until I've been with the company for 9 months.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer an out-of-cycle performance review to those folks that are hired between semi-annual reviews. Be up-front with all things during the hiring process so potential employees are not caught by surprise.
