Former Employee – worked at CSC full-time for more than 7 years

ProsFlexible work environment if remote. Can be great depending on which business unit you're in.

ConsCompany is extremely disorganized. Hard to find even the simplest things needed to complete customer requirements. Many at the top are very self motivated. "Client first" is just a slogan, no truth behind it.

Advice to Senior ManagementJust do what you claim to do. Very simple. Hire and retain people who actually care about the client. Not just those with great political capital internally.

Current Employee – been working at CSC full-time for more than 7 years

ProsCSC was an excellent place to start a career and learn real world experience. They were also very flexible with the work schedule.

ConsMost of the work is maintenance on a code base that is 40 years old. More interested in making money then producing a quality product.

Current Employee – been working at CSC full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood company to work for. One of the leaders in the IT industry and a Fortune 500 company. Lots of potential if certain chances are made, specially in the compensation system.

ConsOne of the biggest issue is the Compensation System the company follows. Compensation offered are really on the lower end compared to market value.

Advice to Senior ManagementRevamp the Compensation system to match fair market value for different jobs and opportunities.

Former Employee – worked at CSC full-time for more than 7 years

ProsGood salary, Mostly good people.

ConsNo career path, no real support for placement after a contract is lost. They lead you to believe there is but nothing comes of it. To top heavy way to many levels of management

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide a contact with more workers and less management. Your workers are what keep a contract going.

Former Employee – worked at CSC full-time for more than 10 years

ProsExcellent staff who are willing to step in and assist with solving problems. Compensation is fair, at or slightly below the market. There are plenty of opportunities to move about the company and gain experience if you work hard and are a top performer.

ConsThe company is going through a “transformation”. Delayering of staff continues. There may not be enough staff to complete the work that must be accomplished. Work / life can be an issue depending on your role.

ProsPeople, access to training and higher education tuition, communication about company policies regarding ethics etc.

ConsLayers of management and many RIFs due to economic downturn and lack of business opportunities in the financial sector.

Former Employee – worked at CSC full-time for more than 10 years

ProsUsual large company benefits, but within the last year medical costs increased. Felt like the corporation pushed most in the U.S. to high deductible plans.

ConsMore and more takeaways. Things like bonuses are only discussed at higher levels. There was not a lot of long term prospects in my unit. Even management is not respected.

Former Employee – worked at CSC full-time for more than 7 years

ProsVery collaborative group of people that all contribute to delivery of technology to the client.

ConsSo large that at times that one part of the organization does not know what the other part is doing that may be helpful.
To many folks not thinking and just doing what they are told to do. No thinking, just follow the process.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure client satisfaction is planned from the bottom up, not top down.

Washington, DC

Current Employee – been working at CSC full-time for more than a year

ProsLots of internal opportunities, if you're willing to dig in and look for them. Large company with significant resources.

ConsThings can get crusty. Recommendations for internal improvement get filed away in the 'ignore-forever' cabinet. All efforts must be charged to a particular project, which can become onerous when some tasks don't cleanly fit into any given project (and pretty much guarantees that internal development just doesn't happen). Boring culture for a young professional (stodgy, starchy).
