    This company offers a good Work/Life balance, and there is no requirement for salaried employees to work late into the night unless that is your personality.

    This is actually a Con but some people see this as a Pro: there is no accountability, no one takes responsibility, no one makes decisions. Your supervisor will rarely stand up and fight for you. This is not a departmental issue, this is a company-wide issue.

    The entire top management team has been fired except for one person; this is certainly a step in the correct direction as it is generally recognized by The Global Private Equity Firm (the "Owner") and the brand-new CEO that a completely new culture must be established to turn this company around. All the right things are being said, which is both reassuring and comforting (except for the majority that wants to operate business as usual and protect their turf), but it is tough to see the actions and actual changes that are sorely needed.

    The brand-new CEO and top management team have a vision for success that, if well executed, can result in positive changes. It remains to be seen whether this untested team, without any history at this company, can overcome the resistance offered by everyone beneath them, plus their own myopia that changing everyone at the top wasn't enough, they needed a healthy dose of replacing middle managers that has not occurred (and is not expected to occur) because the Owner's view was that all of the problems were at the very top of the company. Replacing the top six people at the company is not enough.

    CSM BS (who gets paid to come up with these acronyms?) has been purchased by a Global Private Equity Firm and faces an uncertain future of either being sold again, broken up into pieces, or going bankrupt.

    It is a risky, unstable company environment. If you are coming to work here, you should receive a higher-than-average salary (compensation package) because you are taking a higher-than-average risk to work here.

    The Global Private Equity Firm appears to be taking back 20% of their purchase price annually out of the company, distributing a "cash dividend" back to The Global Private Equity Firm each year. This "cash dividend" to themselves is partially financed by having CSM BS take out loans. This is adversely affecting the EBITA/Debt ratio and the financial outlook is negative (see the Wall Street financial analysis reports). After 5 years, The Global Private Equity Firm will have received all of their purchase price back in cash and will still own the company. At worse, they will break even (if the company goes bankrupt); at best, they will sell the company whole and the entire proceeds will be profit.

    CSM BS is moving away from the Hays Salary Grade System to a lumped Wide Broadband Salary Range, which means promotions will be almost non-existent, unless you can break out of the caste system band in which you have been placed
    (e.g., all technologists will be in one salary band; there will be no promotional salary increases or movement from a junior level technologist to a more senior level technologist;
    likewise, all managers will be in one salary band; there will be no promotional salary increases or movement from a junior level manager to a more senior level manager;
    the same will be true for whatever your position is)

    Now that you have fired and replaced all of the top management, you must dig deeper and get rid of the middle managers or you will never see the culture change that you, the new top management team, say that you need to turn this company around and make it successful.

    Address the disconnect between the new top management team and the company across the street and at the other company locations. You believe that you have changed the company by replacing the people at the very highest levels, while everyone else was just shifted around into new organizational boxes as they continue to operate business as usual. Your lower level employees see absolutely no change in their environment or the way their managers behave. You are keeping the very people who ran this company into the ground in the first place. They have no motivation to change; they are still at the company and what they are doing is working out for them.

    Show more of a sense of urgency. The new top management team appears to be missing almost all of the deadlines and commitments that they have set for themselves. There is no use in taking up all of our time resources thinking, planning, and announcing, while then expecting the work to be immediately done. If it takes you this much time to do the planning, I assure you that it takes even more time to do the actual work.

    I worked at CSM Bakery Solutions full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Size of business. Fairly strong name in the industry (but diminishing quickly). A number of really good people who are knowledgable, caring, professional, responsible.

    Cons

    The absolute worst corporate culture anywhere. All new super-senior management with little or no background in the baking industry... yet they believe they're the ultimate experts. Largest customers many times tell their CSM sales contacts "don't bring that guy/gal (Sr mgmt) around here anymore"... and they mean it! C-suite is ripe with do-nothing smooth-talkers who carry an elitist attitude, which nauseates the entire work-force (except those with their nose up someone's rear end).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Rhone Capital has clearly done a poor job of building a leadership team to build the CSM asset. There are many, many fantastic result-producers who have either left the company on their own, or were forced out when they stood up to someone... only to be replaced by a "pet" of theirs who will do nothing but run the business into the ground. There are remaining loyal worker-bees who do a great job day after day, but are unrewarded for their contributions. My advice is to pull 8 or 10 ex-employees into a neutral site with a neutral facilitator to get the real truth out on the table. This is a sinking ship unless you start looking at facts.

    Pros

    all bad about the company since it was sold by owner

    Cons

    earning decent pay is difficult when you make 10.00 driving forklift and you remain at temt status for the hours they require you to do before becoming ft employee, 5 hours to go then they move you to another position in which your time starts back at 0,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    do your employees right and you will keep a great staff, until then the turnover rate will remain high.

    The work-life balance is good.. the managers are considerate..

    Cons

    No issues with time-off policy...a lot of politics in upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listening to employees who have a vast knowledge and experience in the field, is an profound way to cut cost and frustration on a project. Having a timetable is ideal in order to establish focus and timeline for every step in the project.
